I just received the long-awaited release of Maggie Flynn from DRG, and need to report that it is awesome!

Shirley Jones sounds wonderful. I must have listened to "I Won't Let It Happen Again" five times already. Even one of my co-workers, who doesn't listen to many cast recordings, was humming along.

Of course it is also a treat to hear Jack Cassidy giving another splendid performance. The book to this show must have been terrible, because the score is a gem. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy.

Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco. Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!

I wish I could say I was shocked that there weren't more posts on this recording, but I'm not.

It's a wonderful score (about the draft, sound familiar?). Shirley Jones and Jack Cassidy are superb. I love the opener "Nice Cold Mornin'", the title song, and yes, "Why Can't I Walk Away" is addictive. That kind of lovely classical musical theatre torch song. This is a wonderful disc and anyone interested in musical theatre would be wise to add it to their collection.

I listen to MAGGIE FLYNN all the time. The score is wonderful and I wish I had been alive in the late 60s to see it. The opening number is addictive. "It's a nice cold mornin'. A delightful chilly day. I can feel a lovely shiver in my bones!"

I also love Jack Cassidy's "Mr. Clown" and "Learn How To Laugh."

This show needs to be revived at Encores with Kelli O'Hara as the lead role.

Usually I hate O'Hara being suggested for every soprano role, but she'd be superb. If it's a concert, I'd love to see Patti Cohenour in the role. I love it all top to bottom.

Encores! really should do it. It's more in line with their mission statement that they keep forgetting about.

I saw it & I liked it. No idea why the critics had a problem with it.

Did the red sea parting look like it does in the movies?

I was there also but it came a little before the Romans I do believe.

There was no Moses & it was Heston parting the sea just like in the movie. There was a Starbucks on the other end for those who made it thru.
