YAY!
David walked into the valley
With a stone clutched in his hand
He was only a boy
But he knew someone must take a stand
There will always be a valley
Always mountains one must scale
There will always be perilous waters
Which someone must sail
-Into the Fire

I love "The Cradle will Rock," but my all-time favorite performance of his is in "The Birdcage." The first time I saw the movie was in the theater when it first opened, and I literally fell out of my chair when he burst in the door singing "I could have danced all night." I've been a die-hard ever since.
Bootleg? What's a bootleg? (wink!)Actually, I so don't have the technology for that.
Wow, I just hope Hank's understudy isn't on during that performance. I would be so sad.
However, I will live either way. (double wink!)

Magic, the night before I saw Spamalot, "The Birdcage" was on TV. Twice. Guess what I spent my night watching..
I LOVE that movie (and Hank!). Have an awesome time!!

Hehe. That SO sounds like me. I own "Birdcage" on both a really old VHS and the DVD, but whenever it comes on TV - usually Bravo - I end up watching it. And they run it a lot.
The funniest part of the TV editing of the movie, for me, is the addition of the orange shorts while Agador is cleaning the pool, in the background of the "Can't we hire a straight maid?" scene. It looks like some 10 year old with the paint program painted those shorts on him. Having lived with a graphic designer for a year, I notice these things now.
Sigh. I love me some Hank Azaria. Hopefully, fingers crossed, I will get to see him and not his understudy (nothing against understudies...I happen to love them...but he's one of the main reasons I'm going!) and then I will get an encounter at the stage door.

My seat is: ORCH-C, row A, seat 101
Just curious why you asked? Are you going the same day? :) That could be fun!

Uh....hehe. Nervous laugh. Is there any particular reason I should do those three things, or is that just general theatrical viewing advice:)?
Hehe. Memories of the "Rock and Roll Party Queen" sequence from Grease flood back to me....as does getting covered in water at a staging of "Rocky Horror."
Don't leave me hangin', honey!

Well, the night I saw the show, the person in seat A-101 had a very important function.
Of course, they could use different seats on different nights, but that would require different pieces of sceney, different lines, etc.
without giving it away completely, let me just say that at a point in the show, a large piece of carved stone bearing the cryptic message "AIOI" is discovered. Eventually, the knights figure out what this message means.

Oh Good Lord. Care to share any more details, so I won't be absolutely mortified on Wednesday? (Not that I'll mind!) PM me if you don't want to ruin it for the rest of the board.
Did you like the show when you saw it?

....and visions of Spamalot dance in my head. :)
This is making my day even cooler than it became when I found out I had the ticket. (I've got the golden ticket?)

I was so sure that person was a plant! Have loads of fun, take pictures and I AM SO FREAKIN' JEALOUS. I saw it today, and...it's amazing...but I would have killed to be in A-101
And no, it doesn't change. M'dear, you are the envy of this board!

Oh my gosh. I'm so excited right now, you guys have no idea. I'd love to find a way to get pictures, but I'm going by myself, which is how I was able to score the one single ticket in front.
Oh Lord, I hope Hank Azaria is performing at the matinee:) Fingers crossed. Fingers crossed. Fingers crossed.

Magic, I think since it's previews, he pretty much has to be there unless he falls deathly ill. If it helps, I was at the day after Christmas matinee and he was there, so I don't see why he wouldn't be there for your show.
(I am so excited for you!! If you wanted to smuggle someone in to get pictures, I could be free that day..
I promise, I'm quiet and can fit under a seat without anyone noticing!)

OMG!!! You've GOT to be kidding about that seat, right?!?!?!?!
If you really do have it (sorry for being suspicious, but I'm cynical, lol), that's cool. NOBODY TELL HER WHAT HAPPENS! NOBODY!!!!!! (Its SO much better when its a surprise.)
And, yes, it was that seat when I saw it and when a family friend saw it. So, at least as of now, they're not changing it.
Hank Azaria will be in unless he falls deathly ill, as someone else said. When a show is in previews, you don't skip matinees for anything but a really, really good reason. You should enjoy him, he's hilarious. Have a blast!

But now we have come almost to the end. One last step. And then, when I take power, they will be pulled down and ground into dirt for what they did to you. And what they did in so contemptuously underestimating me.

WhereamIgoingto and commasplice, thanks for the assurances that he would be there. I hadn't thought about it being previews and the likelihood that he'd be there - so thanks.
WhereamIgoingto, I'm pretty sure I have the seat. At least, its what my ticketmaster print out thing says. :) Hopefully, I have it, right?
commasplice, my purse is pretty large and all, but I don't think it could fit a person. Dang, I wish I had a family member or something with me to take pics....because no one is going to believe this if I don't get pics:)
Yikes. I can't wait til the 5th now!

Just in case I'm wrong about the picture, bring a camera and befriend the person sitting next to you during intermission.

You guys rock, I'm so excited!
Oh my gosh! What should I wear?:)
