"Mahagonny" w/ Audra & Patti To Air On California Radio

According to the LA Opera website, a recording of Audra McDonald and Patti LuPone in "Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny" will air on Saturday, June 16th.

It will play Saturday morning at 10:30am, on KUSC.

Don't worry if you're not in Southern California. You can also tune in via audio stream through their website - www.kusc.org

So... for anyone who missed seeing the live thing and are itching for the television broadcast/DVD, here's something that will tide you all over! :)

This makes my life.

I have watched the youtube clips of Mahagonny at least 200 times.

And I will most definitely tune in - thank God I live on the east coast - 10:30 AM is not my favorite time.

That's funny. I worked onthis AND still work for the opera and there hasn't been any word on this...

Wish I could get excited.....saw the show earlier this year. Even Patti and Audra can't rise above the material. A very odd show...and a very disappointing day at the theatre.

Every time I see something about this opera, all I can imagine is Audra starring in a stage musical version of the 1970's Diana Ross film "Mahogany", and I wonder what part Patti would play.

the score is so haunting. the duet they are singing right now is beautiful. Audra's voice is flawless in this.

This is one of those shows that I'll always remember. Not only for the fact that I got to work with Patti, Audra and Mr. Doyle, but because it was just so 'different'.
