Broadway-- underneath it says Julie was spoofing Melanie.

Ya, I know. I just wasn't sure because that just doesn't seem right for another Bway performer to do that. Haha, the skits look hilarious. An interview with Audrey II and Avenue Q singing a Sesame Street song!

Haha, if you don't think it's right to make fun of other performers, you definitely wouldn't enjoy yourself at Gypsy of the Year!! That's all they do. =p You should've heard Urinetown. Julie was HILARIOUS as Melanie Griffith, and lyrics the company sang were so funny. "She can't sing, she can't dance, but Ben Brantley calls her the best Brenda in Movin' Out ever!!!" They all totally dis each other but it's all in good fun and for a good cause.
It makes me think of the year that Liza was appearing in Victor/Victoria and some show (either When Pigs Fly or Party) spoofed her in a number which showed her giving out gifts from Woolworths disguised in Tiffany bags. It was priceless and got such a huge howl from the audience.
All this talent and creativity makes me wish I were still living in NYC.

Ya, Urinetown cast members had a sign saying: Will work for food 1/19/03!

That came at the very end of their skit.. Lockstock (Don Richardson) told Little Sally (Kirsten Wyatt) that she is the one who has to keep the spirit of Urinetown alive and she goes offstage and comes back moments later with the sign.. they were funny.. MEAN but hilarious, and they apologized for everyone they made fun of over their years at Gypsy.
"that just doesn't seem right for another Bway performer to do that."
It wasn't another Broadway performer; it was the only Broadway performer if you're comparing Julie and Melanie. lol It was a Broadway performer (Julie Halston) making fun of a Broadway joke (Melanie Griffith).
I wish I would have gone. It must have been hilarious.

I think it is funny too. It just seemed odd that they would do that, that's all! I was not aware of what went on at the Gypsy of the Year, but now I know!
Well...I did find it ironic that Melanie came in for a good lashing, and then several of the gypsies that followed had major pitch problems or just unpleasant voices.
Just cause they're on Broadway don't mean they're good.

I agree.. one of the girls at the beginning who sang the "Group saaaaales.." I thought was horribly off pitch and I was like hoooow did she get on Broadway? I didn't like the older gypsy from "Chicago" either.. her voice sounded off.
