Hey guys, I'm just looking for a few examples of male songs that are generally thought of as showstoppers, I'm just looking for one or two to learn and have in my rep (tenor in particular, but doesn't have to be). Thanks!
The first one that came to mind was "Music of teh Night" I don't really know why, but it always get's really good audience reception even though it isn't an especially exciting song.
I can't even think of anything else right now, I'm completely drawing a blank. sorry.
I am what I am from la cage.
Johanna from sweeney todd can be a showstopper if done right.
Gestheme (sp?) from JCS
why God why from Saigon
confrontation from jekyll and hyde
anthem from chess, and pity the child from chess.
out there from the hunchback of notre dame
SOLILOQUY from CAROUSEL is a great showstopper for a high baritone/tenor.

This Is The Moment from Jekyll. Great song in a terrible show.
"Make Them Hear You" from Ragtime
"Where is the Life that Late I Led" from Kiss Me, Kate is a great comic showstopper
Buddy's Blues from Follies
Run Freedom Run from Urinetown
Empty Chairs, Empty Tables - Les Miz
Once Before I Go - The Boy From Oz

"Wheels of a Dream" from Ragtime. It was 95% Coalhouse singing anyway and you can easily retrofit the 2 lines Sarah had.
