Mamma Mia film#1

I happenned to see a trailer for Mamma Mia yesterday, and it looked pretty good...the critique seemed to be favorable, as well. after hearing who is in the cast, it looks like it might be worthwhile to watch. Ususally, I don't like it when they make a film from a theater show, but, maybe this will be different(?).
Cast (Credited cast)
*Meryl Streep ... Donna (wow...)
*Pierce Brosnan ... Sam Carmichael (cool)
*Colin Firth ... Harry Bright (yeah!)
*Christine Baranski ... Tany (yeah!)
Stellan Skarsgård ... Bill
Julie Walters ... Rosie
Dominic Cooper ... Sky
Amanda Seyfried ... Sophie
^these last four peole I don't know :I

What?! There's a film-version of MAMMA MIA!? When does it come out?
I highly doubt Meryl Streep is doing this.
I'll believe this when I see a link.
They can't make a film-version of MAMMA MIA! as the show is still doing great business on Broadway. This is all a joke, right?

Ah! Sarcasm rarely reads well on a message board unless there is a hint.
But actually, I'll pick this one up when it comes out on blu-ray. There are actually people who don't live in New York City.

Posted: 5/30/08 at 10:52amAmanda Seyfried was in Mean Girls as Karen and she was also in Alpha Dog. I am not sure about her singing abilities, though.

With the s**tload of threads discussing and dissecting the film-version of MAMMA MIA!, you'd expect EVERYONE would have already heard virtually everything there was to discuss about the film.
The casting was discussed almost a year ago when their names were finally confirmed; tons of 'on location' photos were posted when the cast was filming in Greece; all the trailers were discussed when they were released months ago, etc.
I actually thought this was a joke thread when it first popped-up. Tragically -- it wasn't.
First located thread on the film-version of MAMMA MIA! started on 4/19/06 (over 2 years ago!) -- yes... each one of those links below is a completely different thread/post on MAMMA MIA!: The Movie:

Yes, a tragedy.
I'm still new here.
Though I admit I've been posting way too much. But I'll be off on my transcontinental trip soon.
PS that took some work to post all those links

With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-

Not exactly.
A small snippet of common sense needs to be used when reading something I write -- especially on topics that are OLD and discussed endlessly.
Such as:
When is THE PRODUCERS closing on Broadway?
Is it true UGLY BETTY is being turned into a musical?
Does Patti LuPone come out after matinee performances?
When is Megan Mullally leaving YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN?
When is the release date of the MAMMA MIA! soundtrack?
How can I get tickets to the final performance of RENT?
Is LEGALLY BLONDE closing soon?
How are the partial views seats for WICKED?
What is the discount code for SPRING AWAKENING?

Ummm, it's a movie...they will show it more places other than NY. I don't get the last part of the comment.
