Posted: 3/16/10 at 10:51pmSorry to any of you Mandy Gonzalez fans out there, but can someone please explain her to me? I just don't understand how she landed Nina in ITH and now is Elphaba. What's her appeal? I'm not hearing it in her singing if that's what it's supposed to be. Is she spectacular live or something?

She has a big powerhouse voice! Basically all you need for Elphaba. But I believe she has more than that. She will be great.

She has a huge, powerful voice. She made her rather bland songs in ITH exciting because of her vocals. Janet Dacal is lovely in the role, but her voice doesn't begin to compare.
She's also a good actress, though I wouldn't say great, yet. The roles she's played haven't really given her the chance to be a great actress, though her comedic timing in Aida was excellent.

Thank God she is leaving all of those bland song behind! Now she gets Something Bad and I'm Not That Girl........
Anyways, like everyone else has said she has a very powerful voice. She can really blow you away with it.

So...you've never seen her live?
Like everyone has said, she's got a great voice, and is a good actress (and, if given the right role, could be a great one, IMO).
