I read somewhere that Patinkin was in Assassins, but I cannot find any record of it?
When and where was he in it, and who did he play?

He makes no mention of it on his website.
Paul Ford, piano accompanist for Patinkin, was the pianist for several productions of Assassins, and perhaps that's where the idea originated.
On the recently bumped Is Mandy Patinkin losing his mind thread, I found this:
"Even Sondheim stopped talking to Patinkin for a long time because he was quite rude at a workshop/rehearsal of ASSASSINS."
from ray-andallthatjazz86.
So I don't know if he was there for unrelated reasons or actually involved in the production, but hope this helps.
Patinkin took notes during the performance of the workshop of ASSASSINS, apparently under the impression that Sondheim would give a care about what Mandy thought needed work. He didn't.
P
Patinkin was not in the original or the revived Assassins. Yes, he always takes notes when he sits in on rehearsals. These notes are more for his own use than anyone's and may prompt questions. It is how an actor learns. If you are thinking actor, you never stop learning or observing others. Paul Ford is Patinkin's pianist, friend and accompanist and usually acts as rehearsal pianist for Sondheim's shows.
