I hate to say it, but Im beginning to agree with you. So far the nominees for best new musical would be....Dracula, Brooklyn, Bombay Dreama....and the two jukebox shows?? I have a feeling Im missing something really obvious.
Can't we just nominate Avenue Q again, because its so great?:)

Just because a show opened doesn't mean it will get a nomination. Don't forget LITTLE WOMEN, SPAMALOT and DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS still haven't opened yet. I wouldn't be surprised if the race came down to the the three of those shows.

MagicToDo82. "Bombay Dreams" was last year.
"Smart! And into all those exotic mystiques -- The Kama Sutra and Chinese techniques. I hear she knows more than seventy-five. Call me tomorrow if you're still alive!"

Bombay Dreams was last season. It has absolutely NO chance of getting nominated for a Tony this season.

Oh, thank you. I'm not functioning today and honestly thought those were all next season scheduled. That's fabulous, and I hope it comes down to Spamalot, Little Women, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Brooklyn (at least its not a jukebox show) and...dare I say it? All Shook Up or Dracula. Though, with the presence of Cheyenne Jackson, Im going with Shook:)
EDIT: Like I said, not functioning (away from home, wine, turkey, t-day madness) and glad to hear Bombay Dreams was last year.
but can't we run Avenue Q again anyway?

And there's A Light in the Piazza, right? It gets mentioned so little I wonder if it's actually opening this season.

Plum, you're absolutely right. I completely forgot about that one. If what I've heard about it is true, I expect it to do quite well this year.
And bronxbound, the only Tony DRACULA will win is one thanking it for closing and letting Kelli O'Hara do a show that can actually showcase her talents.

This season is starting to look like the opposite of last year- all the promising new shows are opening late. So I'm not giving up yet.
Besides, there's always plays. :P

I'm very excited for Piazza but I fear that it could turn out to be this year's Caroline. A brilliant, but grossly underappreciated, musical.

lol How about this? DRACULA will break the record and win 13 Tony Award including Best Everything and run for 3,000 years and the soundtrack will go platinum and Kelli O'Hara 5 years from now will be living off royalties and doing concert arena tours like Sarah Brightman and there will be roumors about her sleeping around and she will have AIM icons!!!

dracula has a better chance than brooklyn

I don't know about that. Both shows have better chances in the design categories than anything else. And Brooklyn does have Ramona Keller's supporting performance. But outside of that? Unless the scores and books of all the aforementioned upcoming musicals turn out to be complete and utter dreck, Brooklyn and Dracula have equal chances at winning Tonys- none.

I'm sensing that O'Hara and Keller will be competing with McGovern and others in the Best Supporting category.

OMG...that made my Turkey Day. No matter how much great aunt Bertha babbles on about something outta her reach, this will be the funniest thing I'll hear all day.
