Lets not forever La Cage Aux Follies is coming back
When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. Is it then not clear that all the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill in dancing. - Moliere

Speed, how do you exactly know that this has been a bad year for Broadway?

With a good number of new msuicals still waiting to open, how can you make this assumption?

"DRS", "Spamalot", "Little Women" all have not opened. Are you saying they are all crap? And there's always the possiblity of "All Shook Up" going the "Grease" route and being a popular vote.

It is too early to make good/bad determination. Be thankful that we have any new musicals opening at all.
Ignorance is temporary. Stupidity last forever. Watch out BWW... HE'S BACK.

Anyone who invests in Broadway has to be out of their mind.

It is like playing against someone who has loaded dice. If you want $$ for a tax write off, invest in a show . Investing in a Wildhorn show ( knowing the vitriolic feelings critics have for him ) is like flushing your money down a toilet. Doing a real life Producers scheme is entirely plausible

No, CHITTY will totally be up for new musical. LITTLE SHOP was in a different boat because it ran for years off-Broadway and then was made into a successful movie. It LITTLE SHOP Was to be considered a NEW musical, then the score and book would also be alowed to be nominated, because they were considered "new." CHITTY is different because all the songs are already FROM a movie before it went to stage, so all of the music is not considered original, the same was NEVER GONNA DANCE and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST weren't allowed to be nominated for best score - the score wasn't written FOR broadway.

Beauty and the Beast absolutely was eligible and was nominated for Best Score in 1994, although Passion won. It was in 1996, the year of State Fair, when the Tony Administration Committee started to crack down on shows adapted from films not being allowed to have their film songs eligible for nomination.
