It all depends on who is in the show. If the star is someone you are attracted to and want to see naked, one might be willing to pay the price.
The truly beautiful should be lawfully restricted from wearing clothing; and the truly butt-ugly should be lawfully mandated from going naked.

I can't believe people can be so sanctimonious about this. This is the board where people defend seeing Wicked 178 times because somebody "wants to." If I want to see Marc Kudish naked for 20 seconds and that's the only reason I want to see it, who the hell are you to say that's "stupid."
After all, isn't this the place where people go on and on and on about people supporting theater? Well, guess what, step one is getting asses in the seats.
Just ask the producers of The Graduate who managed to turn a profit based on, all together now: 20 seconds of nudity.

Nudity in theatre has always been a selling point otherwise why do it? And don't tell me for artistic reasons. Practically any scene can be staged in such a way to imply nudity with none being shown. Nudity sells, bottom line.

Everybody, please take a purity test to make sure you are going to the theater FOR THE RIGHT REASONS!

I never said nudity wasn't a reality. I just said if that's what you're going to the theatre for it's stupid and sad...and it is. Face it. And I'm sanctimonious about it because to me, theatre is almost a holy thing. It's very important to me and it cheapens it when people disrespect it. It's kind of disrespectful to say this is all theatre is to me. Or all this piece is worth to me is seeing someone naked. Like I said, I don't mind if you say "gee that's an added bonus. I like this actor's work, I want to see it, AND he's naked." But to say "I'm going to see him naked and that's all I care about" is foolish. It's not the purpose of theatre really. With that mentality I think, well what's the difference between live theatre and live peep shows? It's about intention and what you want out of it. Mind you I'm glad you're going to the theatre but I think you're motivations are sad. And I'm entitled to that. I didn't say you're horrible people or you're going to hell or that you don't love theatre. I just think you cheapen it a little bit.

The main concern should be putting asses in the seats, whether it be great set, actor, author or costumes (or lack of them). Whatever motivates someone to purchase a ticket is all that is important. People go to theatre for different reasons. Personally, I probably wouldn't go to see The Highest Yellow normally - not a big fan of the author's work. That said, putting Marc Kudish in a tub, naked with the promise of a fleeting glance at his winkie, I would buy a ticket. You may not agree with my motivation, so what? Bottom line - the producers get my money and the show continues on.

Hence the "I'm glad your going to theatre" in my post. I just merely put out there what I felt about your motivation. And even though I feel the way I do about it, I think you're entitled to your motivations. That's all..

And you are certainly entitled to your feelings. Let's just agree to disagree.

Again, I ask you. Who the hell are YOU to decide that for other people? Theatre is holy for me, too. As is the human body. As are packin' hairy actors. That's the frickin holy trinity for me.
But just stay on the other side of your line of demarcation of stupid and sad. That way, you can spend the rest of your life going to theatre for smart and happy reasons. And looking down on others.

That's MISTER bitch to you. At least I'm not hard up that I have to wait for the circus to roll into town (in your case : wait for a show) to catch a glimpse of d!ck. I get mine on the regular.

Actually, am looking at two right now (besides my own, thank you), so don't need a broadway show to get a peek. I do happen to enjoy semi-famous dick on occasion, hence the subject of this thread.

Oh please, Marquise. The human body has been an art form since frickin cave drawings. Enjoying looking at them is not an indicator of "getting it in real life" any more than liking restaurant reviews means you don't ever eat food.

Be still my heart.
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."

I thought HIGHEST YELLOW was an excellent musical. Kudisch was very fine in a change of pace role. His performance was so strong that you wished he had more to do in the show (that's not meant to slight the good work of Kuhn or the fantastic performance of Daniely who richly deserved his Helen Hayes award for it). I enjoyed the nude scene and I'm sure that the water in the tub must have been very cold the night I saw the show.

tpdc...damn, you are so bad! He must have been pretty nervous, knowing that the entire audience would see what he's got...or, as you note, what he hasn't "got." Nonetheless, a great performer.
On another note, if you look at pictures of Marc throughout various performances in various roles, did anyone notice how ridiculously different he looks from picture to picture? I mean, Trevor, Gaston, Van Gough...he seems to completely change his entire appearance by shaving "this" or growing out "that." I think it's remarkable.
