"Mariah Carey wants Leona Lewis to play her in Broadway musical of pop diva's life"
She's had her fair share of drama... and now super-diva Mariah Carey’s extraordinary life is to be turned into a Broadway musical.
We can reveal that the biggest-selling female artist of all time has agreed to let her astonishing story be told on stage.
And we’ve heard that Mariah, 39, wants our very own Leona Lewis to play her. An insider told us: “Mariah’s not sure if she’ll star in it herself. If she doesn’t, names being tossed around include High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens and Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria. But Mariah secretly likes the idea of Leona Lewis playing her.
“Not only is she exotic, she’s the only one who they reckon would be able to tackle Mariah’s eight-octave vocal range.”
The American singer has been in talks about a forthcoming musical with Broadway bosses for months. But she only gave the show the green light after a heart-to-heart with hubby Nick Cannon on their Christmas holiday in Aspen.
A spokeswoman for the diva confirmed: “Mariah is in talks for a Broadway musical to be made about her life in 2009.”
Fingers crossed it will all be ready to coincide with her 40th birthday celebrations in March.
Any production, though, will not be short of drama – her incredible rise to fame will send shivers down fans’ spines, and the tear-jerking tale of her first marriage to music executive Tommy Mottola, about 20 years her senior, will have audiences reaching for their hankies.
Her reported breakdown in 2001 – when the singer was admitted into hospital after suffering emotional and physical exhaustion – could also feature heavily.
Afterwards Mariah said: “I was with people who didn’t really know me, and I had no personal assistant. I’d do interviews all day long, getting two hours of sleep a night... if that.”
Set to music, that could be so beautiful...

I think this is extremely fake.

She is more toned now and has been dressing more elegantly within the past 5 months. I couldn't figure out how to post them in 1 message, so I posted 3.

"'Mariah Carey: The Musical' Coming to Broadway?"
Move over, “Dreamgirls.” Make way for “Mariah Carey: The Musical”?
According to the Daily Mirror, the pop diva is in talks to produce a Broadway stage musical about her life. And she’s keen on British singer Leona Lewis to play her.
However, there are others being considered, including Mimi herself.
An insider told the the publication: “Mariah’s not sure if she’ll star in it herself. If she doesn’t, names being tossed around include ‘High School Musical’ star Vanessa Hudgens [OK, way too young] and ‘Desperate Housewife’ Eva Longoria. [OK, way too old and can she even sing a note?] But Mariah secretly likes the idea of Leona Lewis playing her. Not only is she exotic, she’s the only one who they reckon would be able to tackle Mariah’s eight-octave vocal range.”
A spokeswoman has confirmed: “Mariah is in talks for a Broadway musical to be made about her life in 2009.”
There would not be any shortage of fascinating material for the musical’s storyline. There’s her meteoric rise to fame while married to older music impresario Tommy Mottola, being dumped by her record label in 2001 after a nervous breakdown and being admitted into a hospital for emotional and physical exhaustion.
And then there’s her recent marriage to younger man Nick Cannon and her rumored pregnancy.
Last but not least, think of all those GOWNS! Now this is going to be a spectacle we don’t want to miss. Could Mimi be just the gal to “emanicipate” the Great White Way from economic hardship?
What do you think? Would you go see a musical about Mariah’s life, loves and career? Seems like a sure-fire hit to me. And think of the marketing and musical possibilities.

They can call it "Make It Happen" and use the song off of her first album.
What am I saying?!!
Gack, what a horrible idea.
Are they going to put in her apperance on TLC?

LOL Vanessa Hudgens?!!
Could they possibly pick someone less able to pull this off if they tried?!
She doesn't have the star quality, the appearance or lets face it - the slightest capability to sing a mid-range note of Mariah's, let alone her token 'whisper' notes.
Leona, sure she can do an excellent cover of Mariah's hits, but she isn't a whole lot like her appearance-wise or really in any sense of the word.
I hope this isn't really going to happen, she has great songs but her life story isn't exactly thrilling.
Maybe if they didn't make it about her life, but just used her songs?

I would love a show using Mariah's songs, but not a jukebox style show, which it could easily turn into.
While I think this musical of her life would be a horrible idea, I think an original story using her music would be amazing. She's been writing a Christmas show using her "Merry Christmas" album music for a number of years. It's supposed to be an HBO movie musical, but a Broadway musical has been mentioned.

Mariah Carey
'dressing elegantly'
?
(not in a hundred million years)
So who's doing the life of Elizabeth Taylor? Judy Garland? probably a couple of hundred others that would be better than this.
A click for life.
