"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

A better and more worthy tribute to the great Marian Seldes would be to make a contribution of some sort to Rick McKay's efforts to preserve Broadway history. Here is a link to his tribute to Marian Seldes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSSDGpS47JY "Thursday"

How disgusting. Who thought this would be a good idea for a documentary? And why does her daughter have such an awful vendetta?

Oh, this is sickening. I had the honor of meeting Marian when she came to teach at my school for a week. I dont think Ive ever met a person who radiated warmth and love as much as she did. In just a few minutes of conversation she made you feel like you had an intimate connection with her. When class was running long but not everyone had presented their scenes, she insisted that she would stay late for anyone who wanted to show their work. And at the end of the week she actually cried at the thought of leaving us all, and told us how much she loved us. I could have listened to her stories and soaked in her wisdom forever. I wish I got 100 more hours with her. I hope someone can make a truly fitting film that stands up to Ms. Seldes' legacy. I had no idea her daughter was so awful.

I stopped reading before the end of the article. MayAudraBlessYou (I hope she will) has landed on the mot juste. This is sickening.

I only met Ms. Seldes on a handful of occasions, but she seemed a person of extraordinary warmth and kindness. Her talent and devotion to theater and the arts and artists are legendary.

I know nothing about what it was like to be her child, and it is not unheard-of for public figures to have private lives at odds with their public reputations, but performing a hatchet job on a dead woman is pretty shi**y, IMO.

You think, what do you want? You think, make a decision...

Very disturbing for the immense personal affection and professional esteem so many of us have for this great lady, yes.
But also bizarrely inexplicable: of all possible subjects for a trashy
exposee, Marian? It's not as if Seldes is a pop cult figure like Crawford or Davis.
