NYC covers over 300 square miles of land (not counting the water), and you are basically describing 1% of it. That's fine, but it is important to remain mindful that the history of NYC is one of resilience and adaptability, and to not understand her dynamic evolution is to misapprehend the essence of the place. Yes we have cherished landmarks, but so does Rome, the eternal city, and they are not diminished by the juxtaposition with a pizza joint. It's about priorities.

Oh no, this is extremely sad news. My parents went out on a date to see "Romeo & Juliet" there back in 1968. It was a touchstone for them.

OMG. I heard the rumors, but, since it was still up and running when I walked past it last week, I thought that it was still in business.

Sadly, not sure how it stayed in business so long. The last time that I went there (through MoviePass) I was like one of four people in the room.
