During Idina's second to last show in Wicked. The platform that she rides down for the melting scene wasn't where it should be. Idina therefor fell a couple of feet and landed in a way where she brok her rib.

Therefor, they had to stop the show for a while while Shoshana Bean got into costume to finish out the show. Considering the point in the show when Menzel got hurt there really wasn't that much that happens before the closing number. But, they still wanted the show to continue and thus not have to cancle it.

Shoshana went on the next day. What would have been Idina's last had she not gotten injured.

It is not uncommon for actors to have to switch during intermission. There have been rare cases when they did the switch midshow.

When Priate Queen was in previews there was a bug going round the entier cast. When it caught up with Block she got really sick. But, her being the trooper that she is tried to continue. There were at least one or two times where her standby Kathy Voytko came on mid show. It was a point where Grace would step off stage. And when she returned it was Kathy instead of Block.


Uusally, if there is a switch mid show. They try to do it in a way that doesn't interfear with the flow of the show.

It was actually her last Saturday matinee is happened at.

So Shoshana did the full Saturday night performance. Then, at the original final performance of Idina Menzel, Bean performed the show up to the melting. When ELpahaba emerged from the trap door for the final scene, instead of a grean Bean, it was a normal-skinned, red jumpsuit wearing Idina Menzel entering from the wings.

i dont know tis really worries me cuz the last thing she does on act 1 is fly

I'm sure she's fine. She prolly just got sick.
And also it wasnt 30 minuets to wait for Shoshana...it was 40 lol not much of a difference but still, it was LLOONG time but Shoshana did well.

Shoshana has also stated in interviews that the only reason she was there that late in the performance that day was because she was taking over the role on Tuesday. She said she was usually gone by that time in the show. She had no clue what was going on when she was paged.

haha yup, she was rehearsing with the next Fiyero I believe. She usualy left around No Good Deed. Then they ran down, grabbed her, then told her to wait backstage, and for like 40 minuets they got Idina out of the trap door, onto a thingy(what they use to pick patients up...I cant think of the name..BLONDE MOMENT) and then she said she didnt think they were going to finish the show..and they did.

I attended the 12/27 performance of Mary Poppins, to discover that Ashley Brown was not playing the role. A sales clerk selling merchandise told me that during the previous performance, she felt so sick after the first act that she could not finish the show. Which is horrible, as she is, in my opinion, one of the best actresses/singers currently on broadway

Wow now I feel lucky enough to have seen her in the whole show when I went!
