She finally realised they had not finished writing her part, and she was not gonna get "Supercali......" with Bert.

She probably got sick and couldn't perform the remainder of the show. Happens a lot. That or she had a family/friend emergency.

Don't worry, Mb, the same thing happened when I saw The Producers. Cady Huffman was in the first act and then I'm settling into my seat for Intermission and the announcement comes on that she AND Eric Gunhus are no shows.

We once had a 40 minute intermission for Phantom where the role of Christine Diane was going to be played by another person. Most annoying experience, EVER!

There must have been a pretty intense situation, especially if she was not sick, for her to leave that way. It does happen, but it's usually pretty a intense/tramautic/unavoidable situation.

Just because she didn't LOOK sick, didn't mean she WASN'T ill during the first act.
It happens a lot. I'm sure she's fine.

jagfkb,
If the 40 minute intermission was the most annoying experience EVER than you are one lucky person.

Thanks for all the responses guys. Is there no Broadway cast recording of Mary Poppins? Is it just the London recording, or are they going to make a Broadway recording?

There is only a London recording, and no plans to make a Broadway recording.

Actually, they recorded a "sampler" CD, sent around to Tony voters. It's been leaked.

That happened to me when I was seeing RENT at the La Jolla Playhouse with Leigh Heatherinton as Maureen and she was replaced the second act. You could tell that her voice was going though in the first act , so I wasnt suprised!

Catherine Walker is first understudy for "Mary Poppins", and has had to go on mid-show a number of times. She is fabulous every time she does the role, so I hear. After the show last night, I heard that Ashley Brown may have been suffering from a sinus, or inner ear infection, possibly aggravated by her plane flight home over the Christmas Holiday. She will probably try, but there is no official word yet as to whether she is feeling well enough to go on tonight.

jagfkb, just imagine how all the people who went to see Idina's final performance of Wicked, only to have to wait at least 30 minutes to see the last 2 minutes of the show with Shoshana when she got hurt.

Yes, she was very similar to Ashely Brown. About that event with Idina's last performance--can someone elaborate on what exactly happened. My memories of it are very poor.
