I totally agree. It would be nice to preserve "Playing the Game" and all the little songs and reprises that were left off of the London cast recording. Disney and Cameron Mackintosh certainly have the money to do it. That being said, I doubt that they will as they seem perfectly content hawking the London cast recording for all major productions. Of course, with the exception of the new Dutch cast recording.
they should make an updated one, or make a bonus cd where its the london cd but has extra updated tracks at end
"(in a sweedish accent) Oh! What a lovely T-shirt you are wearing!"- Catherine Zeta-Jones refering to my ALNM shirt at the CD signing.
Say NO to drugs and YES to Jackie Hoffman Live At Joes Pub!
"ITS THE DAY OF THE SHOW YA'LL!!"-Bwaynerd
The Dutch cast recording has "Playing the Game" and the Bank Song, which is great if you understand Dutch. That's something that bothers me about cast recordings in general is that they're usually recorded in English first and then changes are made and the foreign casts are the only ones that get to record the updated score.
I don't think they'll make another cast recording in English And I'm a Quastie! But they didn't make OBC either. There is a promo CD with Broadway cast, so they may do it in Australia too.
No. As much as it would be great to have Australian cast recordings, it just doesn't happen here any more unless it's a new show, and even then it's rare.
The Dutch recording is not in English. And I actually kind of like "Playing the Game". Well, I really like Mary's bit at the beginning. It's kind of creepy.
There's also conflicting information because of the errors on cast album collector. It's slightly confusing. What's listed as the Cherry Tree Lane reprise for the act two opening is actually just the Run Away music, and Good For Nothing and the Being Mrs. Banks reprise are two separate tracks which somehow allowed for Brimstone and Treacle to be listed twice even though one of them translates literally to "This is My House".
This is the actual songlist for the dutch recording: 1. Proloog (Prologue) 2. Chim Chimmenie (Chim chim cher-ee) 3. Kersenboomlaan I (Cherry Tree Lane I) 4. Vlug maar Nanny (The perfect Nanny) 5. Kersenboomlaan II (Cherry Tree Lane II) 6. Tamelijk voortreffelijk (Practically perfect) 7. Elke dag een fijne dag (Jolly holiday) 8. Kersenboomlaan (reprise)-Echtgenote van (preprise)-Elke dag een fijne dag (reprise) (Cherry Tree Lane (reprise)-Being Mrs. banks-Jolly Holiday (reprise)) 9. Een klein schepje suiker (A spoonful of sugar) 10. De Bank (The bank) 11. Vogelvoer (Feed the birds) 12. Supercalifragilisticexpialidasties (Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious) 13. Zo is het spel (Playing the game) 14. Chim chimmenie (reprise) (Chim chim cher-ee (rooftop duet)) 15. Entr'acte (Entr'acte: Run away) 16. Zwaveltriakel I (Brimstone and treacle I 17. Hou die vliegel hoog (Let's go fly a kite) 18. Kersenboomlaan (reprise) (Cherry Tree Lane (reprise)) 19. Echtgenote van (Being Mrs. Banks) 20. Zwaveltriakel II (Brimstone and treacle II) 21. Stap vooruit (Step in time) 22. Een man die droomt-Een klei schepje suiker (reprise) (A man has dreams-A spoonful of sugar (reprise)) 23. Alles kan (Anyting can happen) 24. Een klein schepje suiker (finale) (A spoonful of sugar (reprise))
Playing the game and the Bank song are extra here, I believe that's all. There have been some problems with the covers, which had errors in the track list, that's why not everybody has the right names for the tracks.
"Playing the Game" is a cop-out, and totally weakens the integrity of the piece. You can't take the severity of the situation the family is in seriously with the recent cuts/changes done unto the script (and by casting people who don't go anywhere emotionally as the parents). As much as I have enjoyed this show over the years, I feel that the creatives have continuously been losing sight of the story they are supposed to be telling.
How to properly use its/it's:
Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...
Loving all the inclusions but disagree on the gorgeous bit -I have heard poor VHB sound better.... I don't think it quite does her justice. Still -great to have it!
By gorgeous, I mean the orchestrations/recording quality! :)
EDIT: BUT. I do HATE the new ending to "Being Mrs. Banks (Reprise)." It really shouldn't end with that huge bang like that. And she can't support the belt vocally. It should be soft and sweet anyways... **end of ramble**
According to the tracking list on amazon, they place songs out of order?? Or this is just Act II and they missed Act I tracking list?
