Is this availalble? Or is the London one the only one you can purchase. I was listening to XM radio this morning and they played a number from the "Broadway Cast" (Good for Nothing/Mrs. Banks Reprise). Have to say, I didn't like the recording as much as London's, but I was wondering if this is even "out" in the public.
Are you sure it wasn't a mistake and it wasn't the London cast?
There is not a recording of the broadway cast available to the general public, however I believe there is a semi recording floating around which was used by the Tony Voters or what not... However I do believe numbers from the broadway cast are played from time to time on XM radio. So if you just wanted to purchase one, the London Recording would have to suffice.
Per Disney Theatrical Productions, the only English speaking cast recording of MARY POPPINS is the Original London Cast Recording. There will not be an Original Broadway Cast Recording. They have released the OLC with the new Broadway logo, which has caused some confusion with people.
Now, members of the original Broadway cast DID record a few songs for a CD sampler that was sent to different parties for promotional purposes, so the recording you heard most likely came from this.
Everyone's right - there's a sampler of the Broadway cast that was given to people involved with the production and Tony voters (as well as a copy of the full London cast recording).
"Good for Nothing/Mrs. Banks Reprise" is on the sampler.
yes, it must have come from the sampler. I have not seen MP either in London or otherwise, but the voices were distinctly different, the orchestrations were not the same, etc.
All things considered, I'm glad I have the London recording instead of this...
