Okay, so I was watching this... um, thing... and during the first bedroom scene, Mary takes out a cloth, and lays it on an invisable bed. Does anyone know how this effect is done?

I went on Thursday afternoon and that bit did catch me out actually. I've absolutely no idea how they did it, the only thing that i can think of is that there may be a trap door or something but that is at a guess. The amount of special effects was incredible, it was fantastic and so much so, i felt like i didnt want to blink in case i missed anything! I will definately have to go back and try and suss some of the effects out!
I saw it so long ago, it would seem!!! But I do remember thinking about some of that scene "oh, thats like those terrible flat-pack-pop-up-top hats".....remember those!!! Yikes! But the bed thing was super cool!!! And hey, maybe we are supposed to just be in awe of it, rather than wonder how!!! hehehehe!!!
Actually, LOL in terms of typing online or in print means Laugh Out Loud, in the same line as LMAO, which means Laughing My Ass Off. Hence why I couldnt understand the LOL.
I was lucky enough to do my Work Exp at DMT, and someone who had worked on Mary Poppins told me that there is a trapdoor directly beneath where the bed is, and when Mary holds out the cloth, it slides open, and an Iron frame rises up to meet the sheet.

How lucky were you to do work experience at DMT?! I did my work experience at the Solihull Arts Complex, a small arts establishment in the suburbs of Birmingham, over 2 years ago now after which i managed to get a job and am still there! But i'd love to do some practical work in a London theatre or such a well known organisation such as DMT, that would be brilliant to do.
