Jsn: I'm with you 100%! :)
second to that, it's a great show... Yeah, i'm not to fond of disney taking over broadway, but this show does not scream disney like Tarzan and Beauty and the Beast do or Lion King, it's different... give it a chance peeps! There is some good acting on that stage every night, let me rephrase that, great acting on that stage every night!
I have one word --
Supercalifragilisticexpalidocious...
Unoriginal, I know... but this was the reaction of my boss too, when she saw it in London last year.

BroadwayJoe is right...MP is probably the least DISNEY DISNEY show out of the four. It's very different from the film, and for the better.

It is better than the film. I tried to wath the film again, after the show made me nostalgic for it. IT IS SOOOO LOOOONG and tedious. Way more so than the show... which is not without its problems. But it's fun. Generally fantastic choreography. Unbalanced book, and the new songs are more than forgettable (except Practically Perfect--guilty pleasure). THey should have let Matthew Bourne dance the whole thing, but oh well. Something sugary and morbid at the same time.
I think it was pretty good---- "astonishing" definitely doesnt come to mind.
I found Gavin Lee, Rebecca Luker, the dancing, and sets to be wonderful in this show. It's an entertaining show, but is it the best on Broadway right now? Absolutely not.
The London production is absolutely brillant. I adore me some Gavin Creel! I went in not expecting much and came out feeling lovely, warm and fuzzy.

You guys are out of your minds..
It was worth every penny.
Walking up the Procenium and Tap Dancing once he's completely upside down? Huge fabulous dance numbers, a full ensemble? Flying over the audience? One of the most massive and magical sets on broadway? And I'm not describing it as Magical.. it actually consists of Magic. This is not a typical Disney show. It's not like the movie at all. The Jerry-Herman-Esque finale, "Anything Can Happen"... With the glimmering rendition of the Chimney sweep costume used earlier in the show? Explosions? A decent book and a score that allows you to leave the theater with some sort of recollection of what the songs sounded like?
To say that this was anything less than a fabulous show is just being stubborn.

It's not stubbornness, it's just their opinion.
While I tend to disagree with some of the dissenting opinions about the show, I do realize that it's not something that is going to appeal to everyone. I would love to bring my niece to this show, but she has no interest whatsoever.
It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea.

The sets were the only good part for me, but that even got old after 5 minutes. Glad it was your cup of tea though.
It seems, jsn, that you were more impressed with the stagecraft than the book/songs.
Interesting Enough.
But I do disagree with those of you who thought Ashley Brown did a poor job. The night I saw her, she made the show for me.
