Here we go again! Another Broadway actor forsakes the Great White Way for California glory. Ugh! We'll never see Matt onstage again!
YAY!! for Matt!!
but the new thoughts aren't coming up for mr I still just get the old ones from 3/10
.
yay Matt!
let's just hope Dolly's prediction is incorrect, and that Matt doesn't go the way of my beloved Patrick.
the plot still has to be picked up by a network. but im shocked i have a bet with my sis that he'll be back in any production of hairspray by the end of the year.
It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!!

johny, id almost bet a body part that he wouldnt go back to hairspray. back to broadway, definitely. back to hairspray, very very doubtful.

Really? That is weird. I wonder why... sounds like a cookie/cache kinda thing...

Atleast you admit it.
Oh please, the guy has done ONE (1) Broadway show and understudied another and his list of comercials is so long he can't fit them all on his acting resume with the NUMEROUS films and TV appearances he has done. Now he is a sell out cuz he's done a pilot? Give me a friking break. He is a person who needs to make a living in an industry that can be very harsh. He is not obligated to work for table scraps just to serve your messed up ideas of "art", Dolly.

Totally agree with that, he should do whatever makes him money, and whatever makes him happy ... but hes been in Hairspray, Rocky Horror and Footloose, so thats 1 principle role and two smaller roles. ![]()
What makes you think he would return to HAIRSPRAY? From the very frank interview with Mary Bond Davis, it seemed he could not wait to get out of it.

I know Matt says on his page that the pilot is hilarious, but man does it sound like a bad premise. I mean, THIS from the network that gave us the groundbreaking Hope & Faith? Most pilots never go to production anyway.

Yeah, hes pretty burnt out on Hairspray. On his last night at Hairspray, I commented that he'd be back, but I just meant to NY, and he said "not in THIS show"
And yes, most pilots dont get picked up, but some of them have to make it, otherwise we wouldnt have anything on tv! have hope!

Reminds me of Eric McCormack - he did theater for about 15 years in Canada ....before scoring his first big TV hit - two years of the syndicated "Lonesome Dove" series. Well, maybe not that big of a TV hit (although to me, it is the best drama series in the history of TV, but that's just me...sorry, Dollypop).
Then he DID get his big hit - Will & Grace. I remember how we small band of fans and friends suffered through the casting, pilot filming, waiting for a network pick-up, then the show's initial ratings battle against Ted Danson's new Becker sitcom and Dharma and Greg doing better than Will & Grace.
But Will & Grace triumphed in the end...and Eric still came back to theater during his hiatus (Music Man on Broadway)...and will undoubtedly continue to return theater when he can (he is currently filming "Sisters" - a modern film version of Chekhov's Three Sisters).
Matt may be in the same place that Eric was when he was waiting for his TV career to catch fire after years in theater.

Well, best of luck to Matt. Why anyone would leave Broadway for TV is beyond me. A career as a Supermodel maybe, but not TV!! HAHA

Well, unlike some people here I dont expect him to leave broadway forever. I told him less than a week ago that he was meant for the stage.
He could be a hot chorus boy. Hey, the pay ain't as good, but he gets to shake his bon-bon baby!! HAHA

Um, hes more than a chorus boy
That is good for him...and hey if it doesn't get picked up I bet he gets picked up in a another one...and with marissa set to produce that movie I am sure she will somehow get him a role in the movie bridesmaid. I think he will do alright for himself out there. Yet I do foreshadow a return to broadway at some point. But Mistress I agree he is made to be on stage.
