I may be in the minority here, but I really enjoyed his performance in Nice Work. After the show, I decided to stop by the stage door to let him know how much I enjoyed the show and his performance. I am glad I did. Whle it took him quite a while to come out (close to an hour) he was incredibly nice and gracious. I have never seen anyone sign so many playbills and whatever else people asked him to sign. And pictures? he easily took 25+ photos. Everyone who asked and pleaded, got a pic with him. One of the nicest guys at a stage door.
As someone who has actually seen Brodericks performance in Nice Work AND seen him several times at stage door over the years, the experience you had, BroadwayBrat, is the norm for Matthew, not the exception as some on here would try and lead you to believe. He is very accomodating but draws a line about striking up excessive conversation with fans. He will be polite and say thank you to compliments but does not gush nor does he seem comfortable with fans gushing over him. I believe that is just his nature. I'm glad you enjoyed his performance as much as I and many others who don't post on here have.
The only review of a show that matters is your own.
I would agree with you. When a few fans were screaming and yellng at/about Matthew, he was polite but seemed a little uncomfortable. Some people were a little pushy and pleading with him for pictures, he was gracious and polite the entire time. And took every picture requested. He kept trying to get in his car, but he kept taking pictures as people, who had not seem the show, asked for them. I was impressed.
