for real, why would he leave this show? that is a stupid move, unless he has something huge lined up, but i'm pretty sure he won't be doing tarzan, so i don't know what it is.

I so did not need to read about Matt leaving Piazza the week before I see the show. Just f*cking great.

I really don't know why he would leave so soon unless he's got a huge thing lined up, or something he has super confidence in.
Puzzling.

You have to remember that this show has been extended twice already and maybe he had a prior commitment.

I totally just had a freak out over this before reading the whole bit about his replacement starting their contract on the 9th and Matt leaving shortly thereafter.
As long as he's performing on the 11th, I'll be a happy camper.

Since I'm out of the TARZAN loop so far...why don't they want him to do Tarzan? I thought he was one of the only saving graces of Piazza and although I dont know the stage version, I think he would be a wonderful Tarzan if its based on the Disney Movie!

one of the saving graces of piazza? get thee to the show immediately! they don't want him because his voice is too pretty, they want more of a "rocker"

Any idea who his replacement will be? I have tickets for August 11th! I actually know David Burnham, his understudy. Maybe he will get the role?

Folks, especially everyone who has tickets after this date and is freaking out, I would suggest calming down and taking it easy. I have tickets for the 24th, third time, though I'm bringing my mom and aunt, and I'm not gonna start freaking out until I hear something official and concrete--not a confirm from the original poster, but broadway.com, etc.
I'm pretty sure this isn't true, but I could be wrong, just a hunch, goes against things I've heard, that's why I suggest waiting for official notice.

"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

Kind of funny to think of Kelli as Franca. I'm reminded just how good an actor is when I can't envision them in any other role! Either way, still smooching Fabrizio
