that'd be cool to meet a Broadway person doing lotto! I'd probably drop out, or hope I wouldnt win, though, because I wouldn't wanna take their tickets...

I would have no problem winning lotto even if the broadway person didn't win. Except I would hope I wasn't the person with me cause I'd be tempted to help the broadway star out. For a price though....take me backstage when you are in something next!

House seats are SOMETIMES comped though...I guess it depends on the show. My dad's friend played Jean Valjean in Les Miz awhile back and I was able to get a second row comp. That was towards the end of Les Miz's run though. I'm sure for something like Wicked there are NO freebies ever.

you people have to stop thinking in absolutes. House seats are generally full price. Sometimes actors work a limited number of comped tickets into their contract, sometimes not. Sometimes really famous people decide they want to see a sold out show last minute and they resort to lottery.

Sometimes during press nights before an opening theaters give out comps to have an "enthusiastic" audience present. Sometimes when ticket sales are poor everyone from the front house staff to the stagehands are offered comps to fill the theatre.

And sometimes youre a press rep or otherwise very important person and your tickets are always free. Unfortunately being another actor, unless theyre trying to offer you a role, doesnt put you in this category.

Very touchy subject for those of us who get house seats for people...can't count the number of times people assume they are free-bees and I have been stuck paying for them.

Ignorance is not an excuse. Even if you tell people that house seats are to be paid for... they sometimes don't believe you, think you are profiting on them, or just ignore you when it comes time to pay up.

Yes, very rarely they may be comped when the producers so choose - and press seats or regular freebees or cut-rates are in a different category.

But if you are lucky enough to be offered house seats or if you ask for them from someone connected to a show, it is wise to always check first as to whether or not you are expected to pay for them.

I was there LOL. I didn't win either, (I won the Spelling Bee lotto though) but afterwards I went to the stage door to get something signed by Eden and I asked her if he was there and she said that he won the tickets for his friends.

House seats are house seats, comps are comps. Sometimes, an unused house seat may be comped for some reason, but then it is a comp. House seat means ya paid for it.
