Matthew Sklar

I can't stop listening to the fun songs on The Wedding Singer album. Can anyone tell me more about Matthew Sklar? I guess he's never composed for the theatre before?

here is his bio from THE WEDDING SINGER

"MATTHEW SKLAR (Music) is a recipient of the Gilman & Gonzalez-Falla Musical Theater Award and the Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation Award. His original musicals include The Rhythm Club and Wicked City. Since the age of 18, he has worked on Broadway as a rehearsal pianist, pit pianist, assistant conductor, and associate conductor for many productions including Caroline, or Change, Nine, 42nd Street, Titanic, Miss Saigon, and Les Miserables. Matthew is ecstatic to be making his Broadway debut as a composer."

re: Matthew Sklar

I know he wrote two other musicals The Rhythm Club and Wicked City. I know Rhythm Club got produced (I can't remember where) and I don't know if Wicked City did.

Sklar...

Isn't Seinfeld's wife's maiden name Sklar? And wasn't she some how related to or connected someone how to one of the theatres in the city? As in, someone in her family owned one of them or something?

re: Matthew Sklar

I don't know if Jessica Seinfeld (Sklar) was related to Matthew Sklar.

The theater connection was actually that of her ex-husband (his family owns the Nederlander theater and I think a few others, as well as a piece of the Yankees), whom she was married to for all of three weeks when she began dating Jerry Seinfeld.

If you saw Jason Alexander's apperance on Evening at Pops a few years back, I'm pretty sure Sklar was his music director. They even did a duet of "You're Nothing without Me".

WICKED CITY was indeed produced. The world premiere was at Mason Street Warehouse in Michigan.
