Hey, I am pretty sure I was just cast as Maurice in BATB, now I really don't like this role.

How was he on Broadway, did anyone actually like the role? I hated the song he sings, it is pretty lame. What is the general audiance response?

He's basically the crazy little man who goes for laughs. Just have fun with it, and act like a genuinely loving father and the comedy will come from there, simplicity is the key.

I just finished the show about a month ago...

Maurice on Broadway who is usually played by Jamie Ross, I've heard is quite good. However, on both occasions (May 04, 05) I've seen the understudy, Bill Navel(sp?). He was horrible!!!
He couldn't keep up with the music, and looked very fake in the balding wig cap. Incidentally, both times I went associate conductor Kathy Sommer would shake her head (in anger or disbelief) that he wasn't keeping with the music...taking WAAAY too much license with the role...

It's a cute part though. It's hard not to like him. Just wish tom bosley came back

It is a fabulous role..

There are so many light-hearted and tender moments for this character.. I think you'll really enjoy it.
