I might be going into the city on May17th bc I'm going to see SA on the 18th.
Are there any cheap hotels near time sqaure? (cheap meaning under 200 a night with tax and all). I looked online couldn't find any. Also the room would NEED to have 2 double beds and be able to fit 2 adults and 2 children.
Also I'm thinking about mabey seeing Port Authorty & Saved on the 17th. Do they have any type of rush or lottery? I know Port Authory has $15 student no rush tickets but I would need 2 tickets and I'm the only student. Do they check your ID when u go into the theater? (bc I was thinking I could just buy 2 online one for me (the student) and one for my dad). I haven't heard anything about any discouts for saved. Are there any? I want to see these 2 shows bc they are such limited runs and I don't think they are going to extend. I would also want to see Battle of the bands that night after the 8pm show. Would I be able to do that or do the shows run longer. Battle of the bands is at 10 (or 10:30).
Thanks for the help

They don't have any rooms for that night.
Bump
Just stay at the West Side YMCA. Seriously. It's a very simple room, nothing luxorious, but it is safe and you have all the essentials.
West Side YMCA is one or two blocks from Columbus Circle, so you can walk to Times Square (20 blocks) or just take the A train one stop.

I'm letting you know: Hotels are quite packed for that weekend. I booked mine seveal weeks ago and couldn't stay within my budget.
thread-jacking, but are any of the colleges in the City graduating that weekend? that's a crazy busy weekend in Boston because of graduation (and a Red Sox home game).
under $200 a night in NYC in May??
nah. ain't happening.
Expedia.com $379 - The Shoreham Hotel
Orbitz.com $339 - The Holiday Inn-New York City-Midtown-57thst
Orbitz.com $340 - The Holiday Inn-Madison Square Garden
Travelocity $359 - Millennium UN Plaza New York
Hotels.com $379 - Morgans
Hotels.com $349 - Tudor Hotel New York
Hotels.com $365 - Hotel Roger Williams
Unless you stay at the Y or a hostel then these are the prices you're going to end up paying.
Try checking the hotels websites as well the travel sites. Many times the hotels themselves have cheaper rates because Expedia et al add their own fees.
Saved has a limited number of "HOTtix" which are available one hour before the show for $20 to people 30 and under.
I'm staying at one of the best westerns (mid town) for 200 which ends up being 240 with taxes and such. But only a few days after I booked it...they were sold out-- at least at that price. (I checked for a friend that was interested.)
But I very often can stay in NY under 200 a night...even in the tourist months.

The Bowery Whitehouse Hostel isn't really near, but it's probably closest to your price range.
Big Apple Hostel is affordable and close to TS:
