Outside of Brighton Beach today, I saw a very tall person approaching. I immediately told Mrs R it was no other than Tommy Tune.He is very tall & his face was tanned & hair now greyish
I approached him & started to talk . Mr Tune was extremely nice & we talked for about 10 minutes. He lamented how a show like Brighton could not make it & how everything now on Broadway is profit driven . He was trying to get some projects on but even he was having trouble. Someone else approached & asked him if we would ever see the Irving Berlin Show (I assume Easter Parade)& he said he was trying
We than had a trip down memory lane together when I mentioned all the shows I had seen him in & he remarked jokingly how I knew his whole life. I also mentioned how Mrs R & I had our first date @ Will Rogers Follies . He asked if we were married & when I said yes he said that was so romantic. I also told him a guilty pleasure of ours was Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public. This brought a smile to his face.He was total gentleman & a pleasure to meet & talk to.

Roxy,
I suspect the "Iriving Berlin" musical you mentioned is "Turn of the Century" that starred Rachel York and Jeff Daniels at the Goodman. Brickman and Elice wrote it and the score borrowed heavily from Berlin. A young Israel Baline was an important character in the show.
I always hoped for Easter but I guess that is dead & buried
Maybe he will get Turn on eventually.

You should have taken a real trip down Tommy's Memory Lane and had him recap his countless sexual encounters with other men, as he did in his autobiography. You would have LOVED that!

I hope so. There were a lot of nice things about it. Although it does need major book revisions IMO, and a richer selection of song standards. And much more Tommy Tune pizzazz! Maybe with more $$$ behind it he'll be able to beef up the ensemble, choreography and special effects. Nice premise, though. It has a real old-fashioned romantic musical feel to it. Just not enough character development, production numbers or oomph.
Hard to believe he's, what, 71 now??? Dancers stay forever young, don't they?
EDIT: Of course, my reply was to Roxy, not Namo. LOL

But they do stay forever young, as his sexploits attests!

I saw Doolittle here in Denver. Not a total mess but it needs a lot of work in my opinion.
