Okay- So I brought this up in another thread and never got a response. First off, I know that if the current Kennedy Center revival transfers it will transfer with Baranski. This is simply hypothetical...but what do people think?
I've been mulling it over (no pun intended) and I think this woman has what it takes- the voice (not the Karen voice), the comedic timing (is there anyone better?), and the presence (the girl is confident.)
Thoughts?

And she would be more age appropriate than Mame typically gets cast. I could see it.

It won't happen, though. She is going to be doing a daily talk show on TV starting in the fall.
I'm not saying it would ever happen. However, think of Rosie- she did a daily talk show and did two Broadway shows while on it. It's doable.
Megan would be great as Mame.
Oh...we already have Busch. Do we really need another Drag Auntie Mame?

Dame Edna...hmmm? And how about Rosie or Harvey for Vera?
And my next step would be to cast Megan Lawrence as Gooch (I ADORE Emily- I just don't think this role is really the best fit for her- while she gives a pretty good performance)
Uh pretty sure Rosie only did Suessical when she had her talk show.
But good idea about Megan as Mame.
Do you think if "Mame" is transferred to Broadway, will Harriet Harris be in it?

I love Megan Mullaly. I always thought that Karen Walker would make a great theatre character.

When I first opened this thread, I thought, "No way!" But after thinking about it, I could see it. She could actually be great in the role.
I agree, she'd be fantastic. Unfortunately, the only way it would happen is if Mame didn't transfer and she had a go with it in another couple of years. I think she will be shooting her talk show in LA, so multi-tasking with Broadway would be out of the question.
HarrietHarrisFan- If Mame goes to Broadway I'm sure Harriet will be going with the production. Her reviews have all been raves.

I love the idea of Megan M. as Mame! She would definitely capture the wild abandon so desperately needed to play the eccentric lady.
We're not allowed to post youtube links but if you go to youtube and search for "megan mullally sings." I mean seriously... just imagine her "If He Walked into My Life"
