I just watched a clip of her in the show and she's not half bad. I'm a huge Spice Girls fan, so maybe that's it, but I think her "Out Tonight" was pretty great.

Daphne is an actress above all (even if when she did RENT she was just a singer), so that's probably why she was "the best."
I can't see Mel B. being able to act her way out of a paper bag, but I didn't see her live so what do I know? And I say this as a Spice Girls fan.

Yeah, I'm just going by what I have seen on youtube, so I guess I really wouldn't know either since I have never seen any of them live.

I honestly can't get enough of Daphne. Listening to her connect to Mimi in the cast recording and youtube clips so strongly is fascinating, and then knowing that she is one of the few members of the original cast who could actually act is just impressive. She's one of my favorite Broadway personalities, and I don't even like RENT.

I actually saw her live, her out tonight was pretty much the only decent thing about her performance...she couldn't act and she lost her voice after out tonight so she was very hoarse and raspy the rest of the show. She was the worst Mimi i've ever seen.

I saw it at my friends house. And as I've stated before, yes I go over there twice a week to watch a Broadway DVD.

I liked her as Mimi as well. But I don't know if I am one to judge since I would probably pay to watch any of the Spice Girls tie their shoes live.

Daphne Rubin Vega has to be one of the worst things to happen to musical theatre in a long time. That voice! She's an okay actress but her singing in Bernarda Alba and Les Mizzz was criminal.

Her singing in Les Miz was different, emotional and earthy. It fitted perfectly with the character, unfortunately not the revival.

She was awful. For this or any other production of Les Miz. She didn't exactly earn great review either, with the Times dedicating more than a few words to her lackluster Fantine.

Mel B doesn't have too bad of a voice. It just seems like she didn't know how to take care of it in order to be able to perform well night after night.

Mimi isnt supposed to have an amazing voice. She's a drug addict dying from disease. Its supposed to be raspy and rough.
The reason Mel B sucked was because her voice didnt match the part and as Liverpool said, her acting was decent. she wasnt absolutely horrible, but she wasnt anything special either.

she was just about adequate. But worse for me was Andy Senor as Angel who just phoned his performance in so that when Angel died it was overdue! Yet when I saw him in London he was terrific each time.

Call me crazy, but I thought Tamyra was pretty wonderful.
