Is Mel Brooks credited as being the only song writer for "The Producers"? Reason I ask is I was reading up on the upcoming YF Production (i cant wait), and it shows Brooks as being credited as the only songwriter. That surprised me. Not that I question his talent.. i'm just surprised.
I've read that Young Frankenstien has gotten permission from Irving Berlin's estate to use the song "Puttin' on the Ritz" in a manner similar to its use in the original movie.

Yes. Mel Brooks is the sole composer and lyricist for his shows (and films). Though he can not write music, he does create it (he hums it) and Glen Kelly 'transcribes' the music for him.
"Puttin' on the Ritz" is not credited to him since he did not compose/write this -- Irving Berlin did.
