"i thought the thread meant it was about the breakdown of the character description, not the actual character's emotional breakdown."
Yeah, me too.
"The salesman in Death of a Salesman dies!? I certainly did not see THAT coming."

Posted: 7/30/07 at 3:42pmsilver: I agree. The Melchior "breakdown" is not really a breakdown per se...more like a bittersweet moment of realization. Still moving. The emotionally devastating part for me was the Moritz/Ilse stuff...sort of a realization of hopelessness there that leads to...well, you know...I don't want to give away any more spoilers lest j'aime_le_theatre refuse to ever see any play ever again.

Posted: 7/30/07 at 6:04pmj'aime, thanks for being a good sport...Do go to SA! And the plot/story is really secondary, in some respects, to the overall feel/message/mood.

Do yourself a huge favour: save a hundred bucks and dont go. Listen to the cast album instead, since it's (arguably) the best thing about a production in serious need of a bitch slap.
Sorry, but two hours of whiny teenage angst over sex? Gah.

Te cast recording is okay. Then you see the show and realise it's actually severely lacking.

The best part about SA is most definitely the music.
As a large fan of the show, the plot is terrible and has loop holes and other plots that go without closure.
Seeing the music live, though, is quite a sight though. I see it for that.
