#1Memorial Day Weekend - Discount Tickets

I will be in NYC Memorial Day weekend with my family. We already have a jam packed schedule with tickets to "Newsies", "Matilda", Laura Benanti at "54 Below" and the NYC ballet. If all goes well with our flight and cab into NYC, we should be able to get to Times Square around 11:30am that Saturday. I was wondering what everyone thought might be on the board on that Saturday afternoon. My daughters (in their twenties) are up for anything and my wife generally likes old time musicals (maybe "Nice Work"). I would like to see "Pippin" or "Lucky Guy" (would Hanks do matinee) if they were available. Since it is holiday weekend, I was not sure if more or less shows would be available that Saturday.

With regards to Lucky Guy, Tom Hanks does all eight shows, I am not sure what would get you to think that he would do otherwise. After all, not only is his name above the title. But, his headshot is on the marquee of the theatre.

But, that is a show that I don't think will be on TKTS. It's been a hot ticket since the word go and hasn't shown up on the boards there at all. So, I do doubt that it will be there for that weekend since it hasn't been there at all thus far.

Because years ago, I went to see "Laughter on the 23rd Floor" on holiday weekend and Nathan Lane did not do the matinee but performed the evening show.

This is a good question. Are people going away for the holiday weekend, or are more people coming to NYC? It's hard to tell. I agree with the advice you've been given not to expect to see Lucky Guy at the TKTS booth. Do you have a smartphone? The official TKTS app is very good and available for iPhone and Android. It ties in to the computers at the booth, so you get up to the minute information regarding availability. You can use the app on the cab ride into the city and see what's what. You just can't buy discounted tickets through the app, you have to go to the booth.

By the way, I really enjoyed Lucky Guy and did standing room for it. If you go to the theater around 12:30, you have a chance. Have fun in NYC!

Macny - Thanks for advice, my daughters have smart phones. I did not think there would normally be a chance for "Lucky Guy" but being a holiday weekend did not know if that changed things. I think we will send our daughters off to ticket booth while my wife and I check in at Marriot Marquis. We are very flexible and since we are already going to see the 2 shows everyone wanted to see it is not that big a deal.
