Great to hear about the Blu-Ray!

"The 2011 filming of the Tony Award winning Broadway production of Memphis, “Memphis: Direct from Broadway”, is expected to be released later in the year on DVD & Blu-Ray, according to Broadway Worldwide."

Why would you assume that exactly? It's doing good BO business and is just launching a tour in October. Legally Blonde was on MTV (and a day later on YouTube) and that only helped ticket sales for the tour (and the Broadway production, for some long months). This fear from filming shows is long gone now.

Legally Blonde got filmed when the show was floundering. Memphis has not shown that at all.

That was a bit different, LEGALLY BLONDE was filmed for tv only, to be aired on a limited basis, and not have a release for sale

The second it aired on TV, you could have downloaded it off the internet for free (or even watch it online, anytime). MEMPHIS is getting another revenue stream from DVD sales. They can sell TONS of DVDs at the Shubert after the performance and around the country on tour.

Didn't they say they wanted to do this with at least a dozen or so shows a year?
