Merle was fantastic tonight at her ArsNova show!
Beautiful voice, beautiful woman, it was so nice to see her sing some of her favorite songs. And not in a gorilla costume, though she did sing her showtunes barefoot because that's how she likes it now. :)
I loved her Elaborate Lives from Aida and Midnight Train to Georgia.
Anyone else go?

Oh my God, she sang Elaborate Lives? I was thisclose to going. That makes me sad that I didn't.
What else did she sing? She has such an incredible voice.
There were lots of special guests as well- her backup singers were Rachel Stern, Stacy McClesky, Natalie Silverlieb, Horace Rogers, and then special guests were Chester Gregory, Destan Owens, and Manoel Felciano.
All fantastic!
aww i wish i could've gone!
i wish i was there... i love that woman so much... she's one of my favorite female performers on broadway
I was there. Merle was FANTASTIC!! Sara Brown Eyes, Midnight Train to Georgia, Elaborate Lives, I am a Woman (showstopper!), and a personal favorite of mine, The Hidden Sky.
Wonderful set. Merle is an engaging, beautiful performer.
while i wasn't impressed with Tarzan, i have to admit this woman has a VOICE

It was a great show--her Elaborate Lives was beautiful. Some cute stories, particularly the one with the Korean Christmas carols. =)
I found it especially nice that Merle literally hugged every single person on the way out the door--she's an incredibly talented, beautiful woman.
Merle was UNBELIEVABLE tonight. She never fails to amaze me with her talent. My favorites were The Hidden Sky, I am a Woman and Elaborate Lives (which by the way TOTALLY made me shed a tear or 2...)
Oh, and that Korean Christmas carols part was awesome also!
