Can someone give me some advice about trying for rush tickets at the met? What time should you get in line? Does the line wait indoors and outdoors? Do people bring folding camp chairs if they are going to be there all day? What should someone know who is trying rush tickets for the first time?

Any help is appreciated!

You line up technically indoors and outdoors. You're completely covered yet outside. Enter the building and go down the escalator in front of the gift shop and go out the doors on the right, the line forms right there. Dress warmly because you are basically outside, you just wont' get wet if it's raining. Due to the construction there is a lot of cold air getting into the underground labyrinth. If you have a folding chair bring it with you, you'll have two hours before the show to ditch it. I walk by the line every day sometime between 1 and 2 and there are usually no more than 10 people on line. (Today there was literally one person there at 1:30 when I went back inside) Earlier this week when we had Tristan there were at least 20 on line by then. Once the line hits 75 people there isn't a point in waiting because there are only 150 tickets available.

The Met just started doing a weekend online ticket lottery and that might be an even better option, depending on what show you're interested in seeing. I know that next weekend's Tristan has at least 500 seats that will be available, so that should be an easy win if you're a Wagner fan.

If you have any ?s you can PM me.
