Hi, I was thinking of squeezing in a visit to the city to see Penn and Teller. I was looking for seats and found that all the good orchestra seats had been taken and mainly mezzanine seats are still available. Can anyone tell me about the mezzanine at the Marquis Theater and their experiences? It would be even better if someone has seen Penn and Teller and can tell me what their view was like.

I've seen the show from a few different spots in the mezz and the view's been great

I saw the show last week, and every seat in the Marquis provides a good view. The only caveat about the mezzanine is that you can't get called up as a volunteer, but that might be a good thing depending on your personality.

I sat last row center about a week ago. Great view.

I completely agree. I've sat in the last row of the mezz there a few times and the view is excellent. And exiting is awesome, too. Very convenient and comfortable.

I had no problems in the mezz. Have seen 2 shows from there. On from the last row. I saw the show in the front orchestra but I am sure the mezz is fine. They do most everything front and center. It is a great show. I would see it again for 2 specific parts of the show.

Doesn't Teller go up there for one of the bits?

I can't remember! I was at dress rehearsal and I don't think he did. Oh wait, maybe in the beginning when they included people in the mezz for one of the segments.

Perhaps during the joke book trick, actually.
If you were at this afternoon's performance, the volunteer for Teller's needle trick was Wall Street Journal theatre critic Terry Teachout (source: his Twitter).

I hate sitting in the rear of the mezzanine up there for musicals because the sound is so terrible, but for Penn and Teller I'm sure it's fine. The front of the mezzanine is excellent.
