Michael Ball is NOT gay. He's lived with Cathy McGowan since 1991. It's obvious from his interviews from 1991 thru recently that she is his life long partner, his "other half" as he refers to on his DVD of his Glasgow concert and his involvement with her in ROC--Research For Ovarian Cancer. Please people, don't spread false rumors about anyone, be it Michael Ball, or anyone else. He is a great performer and his personal life is just that---personal. But he is NOT gay. Cathy McGowan is a great lady and they make a wonderful couple. Thank you.

I love how fans consistently run to the defense of their male idols whenever the subject of their sexuality comes up, whatever their motivation may be -- discomfort at the idea of their man being gay, or homophobia, however latent.

Of course, if Michael and Cathy were expecting a child or proposed to Cathy, then the messages would be congratulatory. No one would leap up with their "it's his private life!" card.

The gay rumors are, of course, treated as something that needs damage control.

Well then someone needs to tell me what he was doing holding hands with this other guy at our table at Don't Tell Mama's when Aspects of Love was in New York. He was with this guy who knew us.... and they were holding hands. And it was not like a "european guy holding hands thing"
I really do not care at all except that this is what I saw... and I am not blind and no I am not stupid and no I am not making it up.

I too adore his voice, I've never bothered about his sexuality but Diver needs to get into the real world and grow up.

Hi Diver,

I will introduce you to the term "Beard" if you don't know it already.

A beard is a disguise, a woman who lives with a gay man often long term in order to keep up a pretence of hetrosexuality for mutual benefit.

I am neither masively pro or anti Michael Ball buy the way.. I enjoyed his performances in the past and would be pleased to see him sing again.
