re: Michael Ball - just curious

I agree "Alone Together" is an excellent piece of theatre and with the song list being so famaliar, I think it would transfer really well to New York.

I was lucky enough to see both the original "Alone Together", and the new version which was presented as one of the Singular Sinsations last year at the Haymarket, and truely they were both awe inspiring. However I do prefer the original because of it's dark intensity and really raw emotion.

Alone Together is one of my favorite "one-man" shows. That is probably because of the music selection. I love the intimacy of it. Probably would do real well in a small theatre over here.

I saw him in the original London produciton of PASSION. I wish I could report that I was impressed, but sadly I was not. He seemed more concerned with playing to his fans than focusing on the character. Too bad too, because he has such a nice voice.

I saw Michael in the Chitty previews, and saw him throughout Chitty's run at the Palladium theatre. I also Michael's last day in Chitty. There was a definite improvement from the preview days to the last day. He was constantly improving and growing.

Sharon, I'm still hoping for a revival of this great piece of theatre, and for a transfer to New York. It's a shame to not allow more people to see this show live.

This show would defiitely solidify Michael's name in the New York theatre world, IMO.

I've only just registered for this board so feel my first post would be quite appopriate to be about my favourite singer!
Michael is an incredibilly talented singer and actor and when you consider the variety of roles, from Les Mis to Chitty, he has managed to pull off are testament to his ability. Also his latest concert tour was the best he has produced for many years.
Really looking forward to seeing him next week in patientce and then of course another NYC trip to look forward to for WIW,in which incidently he is superb-a tony winner?

Welcome to the Broadwayworld.com board billy elliot!

I am honoured that you chose my topic, albeit because of the subject matter, for your first ever post here. re: Michael Ball - just curious

I totally agree with you, Michael Ball is an 'incredibilly talented' entertainer. Well, at least I think so.

I really enjoy Michael's talents, and he seems to be a very nice man as well.

Thanks again, and enjoy your time here. re: Michael Ball - just curious

Good hearing from you as well. That sure was something sitting next to each other at the SLC concert without even planning it. LOL.

Good times.

D,

Just saying Hi :)

Are you planning to see THE WOMAN IN WHITE?

re: Michael Ball - just curious

Jo when I speak to D, I'll let her know you said hi, in case she misses your message.

D, yes, it would be great to see you at the WIW!

I saw Woman In White last October in London when Michael Crawford was still in the cast, and I'm very curious to see all the updates and changes that have taken place since the show was introduced on the West End.

I'm a musical theatre fan, and an Andrew Lloyd Webber fan, first and foremost. I met Michael Ball through seeing him in Andrew Lloyd Webber's works. I'm also a fan of Michael Crawford as well.

Hi Jo!

It's old home week. re: Michael Ball - just curious

Sorry to say that I very much doubt I will see WIW. But then, one never knows. I may pop up for a quick weekend after the first of the year.

I still want to see snow though I did fulfill a dream when I went ice skating for the first time ever at Rockerfeller Center while I was there last March. And, No,I did not fall. I made it around ten times and that was enough to make me hurt in places I didn't know I had on the trip home the next day!

re: Michael Ball - just curious

Yea to the ice skating. Hope you make it up for the show. I am going. Can't wait. I love the music so much

re: Michael Ball - just curious

Wow D!!! Ten times around the Rockerfeller Center's skating rink on ice skates is very impressive! re: Michael Ball - just curious

re: Michael Ball - just curious

I concur with Jo, his work in Aspects is fantastic. I also think that Aspects is an often looked past show, i have always enjoyed it. I saw him in WIW in London in March, and thought he was one of the best parts of the show in addition to Marians understudy (no i didnt see ms. Friedman). Cant wait to see him again!

re: Michael Ball - just curious

I didn't see MB in Aspects, I had never heard of him at that time. re: Michael Ball - just curious

I would love to have seen him in Les Miserables. My son and I were in London in December of 1985, and we went to see shows like Guys and Dolls, and a few others?????

Oh well....maybe Michael will do Les Mis again, however this time he would most likely appear as Jean Valjean. re: Michael Ball - just curious

Harris007,

I remember when I saw ASPECTS OF LOVE on Broadway ( I had also seen it in London), I was surprised at curtain call to hear a young lady seated at my back let out a very loud wolf whistle when Michael made his bow. Never heard such a thing on Broadway - lol!

>>>was Michael Ball naked in the opening scene when he did PASSION in London? ... was he?<<<

I hadn't seen the Broadway version, live or on video, before I saw the London transfer of PASSION. I was seated on front row center ( I usually get seats near the front as I have poor eyesight...plus I like to see MB close up in musical theatre) and was almost blushing when the Opening Scene came onstage ( the first few minutes with the overture) re: Michael Ball - just curious

Michael wore an open shirt and I don't know what else when he stood up...but you can see his long legs and more of his back re: Michael Ball - just curious
