Michelle Federer as Elphaba?

Everytime I have seen Wicked I always think was a great, strong, pure voice she has and I was wondering if anyone thinks she could do Elphaba. I don't even know myself, because I don't know what her range is, but I was just curious what everyones opinion is.

re: Michelle Federer as Elphaba?

Personally I think everyone and their mother could play the role of Elphaba.

re: Michelle Federer as Elphaba?

Not everyone can play Elphaba, thats a HORRIBLE statement.

re: Michelle Federer as Elphaba?

o ok, cuz i was gonna say. i think its one of the hardest female roles to play. i think she could have maybe played in earlier on, but i think her voice is not as good as it used to be from doing the show this long.

re: Michelle Federer as Elphaba?

Michelle is great as Nessa. I don't know if she could pull off Elphaba, but I think at this point, people will look at her strictly as Nessa.

Michelle, you're a wonderful woman! Find a better role!

re: Michelle Federer as Elphaba?

She does have a beautiful voice, but I don't know if Elphaba is the way to go on that one... I don't think it's really quite powerful enough.
I hold a degree in Musical Theatre from Montclair State University. It is useless. Now I'm funny for money. Oh, and I sing.

Nessa's voice, I don't think it's really belty enough... however... she is fab and def needs a better role than Nessa! I'd like to see her do comedy bc I've heard she was good at that...

re: Michelle Federer as Elphaba?

Nessa is belty. She belts out most of Wicked Witch and she does it so purely . . she loves the role she has extended many times. She's there until January, my best friend knows her well so she gave him a tour and said she extended.

re: Michelle Federer as Elphaba?

She kinda has the idina-gasping-air-between-each-half-of-a-phrase thing going for her

"Finally for this one night **GASP** i'm about to have a fun night **GASP** with this munchkin boy **GASP** Galinda found for me **GASP**"....etc...etc

her voice is very pretty, but as others have said I'm not sure if it's strong enough...or if she has those crazy E's or whatever they are you need to belt...
and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...

re: Michelle Federer as Elphaba?

Her voice is too pretty for Elphaba, I think. She'd probably do well with a role that requires her to sing in her legit voice; she understudied in A Man of No Importance, after all.

re: Michelle Federer as Elphaba?

She has a beautiful voice and is very talented and I agree, she needs to find a better role then Nessa that really shows off her voice from what it is. As some have said, Nessa's a hard role to shine through no matter how good your voice is. But I don't really see Michelle as Elphaba, I agree, her voice isn't really belty enough in my opinion. Still a very talented individual nonetheless.

re: Michelle Federer as Elphaba?

I almost started a Michelle as...thread yesterday, but I didn't.

I want to see her play Christine in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
Idina: Somehow I got myself to the stage, came out at the end of the show, and I had some kind of closure.
Some guy: You looked great!
Idina: Thanks...I WAS SO HIGH! 8/21/05

re: Michelle Federer as Elphaba?

i think its relatively hard to judge someone's ability to pull off a tank of a role with three very difficult songs to do 8 times a week based entirely off 2 songs that total out to about 2 minutes all together. Not a knock to her but it would be sorta like saying rue mclanahan could make an amazing mama rose based off her 2 songs as morrible.

re: Michelle Federer as Elphaba?

I like her voice well enough, but I cannot see her pulling off Elphaba. Can never know for sure though.

And to say that anyone can play Elphaba is the most idiotic statement I've heard all year.

You have got to be kidding - - Idina and Michelle SMOKE? With their livelihoods depending on their voices? That's too idiotic to believe.

I think dee's gaspy-ness is due to...

a) Stephen doesn't believe in rests for elphie to breathe
b) She's just gaspy.
