My first time attending MISCAST. Some of the performers seemed more comfortable with the material and better rehearsed. For me the highlight was the Norbert and Raul duet from "The Last Five Years" (a work which I don't know but now want very much to know). Alice Ripley nailed "Epiphany" I thought - not an easy feat sung totally out of context, even without the role gender switch. The WICKED duet was fun but a little too long (what a pun!) as a sight gag. I think the Raul/judy Garland idea was splendid although I would have to say that the song started stronger than it ended, for some unfathomable reason.

Didn't stay after the show - seemed like too much of a crush. I didn't realize that us poor folk in the mezzanine (who had show-only tickets) could bid in the silent auction. Not that I have any money to throw around, but it would have been fun to see what was available. Did anyone see any items of interest?

I was on house right, too, and drinking white wine so I never got a refill at all! Pretty good wine for a benefit.

Besides for Broadway Unplugged, Miscast 2009 was probably the best broadway/benefit concert I've ever attended. I thought all performers were excellent. But, I don't think Ripley's "Epiphany" worked all that well. She sounded amazing, but at points it borderlined on absurd (I have no doubt it was the concert setting). I think the highlight of the night was actually Steven Pasquale's "Maybe." He has such a rich voice!!

I saw Marian Seldes during the evening. She is one of those actors who always seems to have her own follow spot no matter where she is.

I thought the wine was a nice touch, and the shout out by Bernie Telsey for the show-only crowd.

I had to laugh. I got home and saw that I had left my wrist band on! Kind of like leaving the hospital with the ID bracelet.

There was even someone in the mezz bidding during the live auction! :) I'll definitely consider going again!
