i've heard thru the grapevine that disney pulled the skits because they were poking fun at the disnification of broadway...as usual. with the tony awards coming up, disney didn't want any bad press....which is silly because everyone knows the skits are all done is good fun.
yes nycdncr, I think you are right,
and the Easter Bonnet is the major influence on the TONYs. (huh)?
it is so silly.
^that is not true..there was a conflict. thats it...it's not some Tony scandal or whatever
no...it had absolutely nothing to do with reviews or the tonys. it was completely a seperate problem...not a big deal, but a problem nonetheless, and unfortunately caused the 2 shows not to perform.
I agree
It had nothing to do with that
This is a charity event and no censorship is appropriate.
and it is a big deal to those who wrote and worked on skits that were pulled.
I would like to hear from people actually involved.
of course it was a big deal for the people who wrote the skits, that is not what i said. the skits were not pulled due to any reason related to the tonys or disney...that is all i meant. all i was doing was answering a question--so i'm done with this ridiculous little argument or whatever it is that you are trying to provoke
well
since DISNEY pulled the skits
it certainly has to due with them
I applaud the shows who participated
I think anyone working on a Broadway show could find some time to throw something together
I thought SPRING AWAKENING would want to be part of this great show.

Just a little note for those who might not know: the Corkscrew who narrated the Beauty and the Beast skit is Bill Nabel, who has been in the show since its original out-of-town tryout (and has rarely taken a vacation), and the mass of people who were onstage at the end singing the finale included original and subsequent Broadway cast, crew, and orchestra members from all 13-plus years.
I particularly enjoyed the comment about how the show opened when the top ticket price was $65. Times have changed...

thanks for the info dancinfan! i loved the grapes on the hair of Bill Nabel. a nice touch.
I am so proud of the Jersey Boys national Tour aka "Sherry Tour" and their supporters in SF for raising the most donations!
The Hairspray skit is on that site.
Many fabulous pics of all the skits can be found here:

Sure, I should be through with him by then.
