Do they offer good food? Is it in a safe neighborhood? I'd like to eat there while in the city this weekend.

It's a diner, so of course...the food is AWESOME! Perfectly safe to walk to from anywhere in that area, especially at sundown and dusk. Reservations ARE required, though they've since given up that 'jacket & tie' policy ala "21".

I ate there years ago. The food is fine, though the diner did look a little scummy.

Posted: 2/27/07 at 5:15pmThis is devastating to me. I ate there when I was a kid with my Mother, not to forget the obvious Jonathan Larson connection. It is a Landmark. I woud think that someone would buy it. I think it's even been in several movies although the only one that comes to mind is Spiderman. I wish that I had gone there on my last trip to New York.

Posted: 2/27/07 at 7:19pmThis is so depressing. It's in a fine area, and they have pretty much the best hot chocolate in the sity. I don't know why- but they just do. It is sort of a landmark to the Broadway and entertainment communities as well. It was featured in Spiderman and a few other films as well, though their names escape me. I am truely sad to see this go.
