Having left Broadway over 15 years ago now, I'm wondering about several shows we saw out of town and/or closed practically immediately on Broadway. The first show is Paper Moon. We thoroughly enjoyed this production when it had its tryout at Papermill Playhouse. As season ticket holders to Roundabout Theater Co, I can remember looking out from the lobby at the Criterion Center to the marquee of The Marquis and seeing that the show was coming. That obviously never happened, but does anybody know anything of a cast recording of the Papermill Cast being available?
Similarly, I can remember the large painting on the St James Theater front of a busker from Buskers Alley. I don't recall any previews of that show happening at the St James but does anybody know if Mr Tune had any out-of-town tryouts or recording of the score?
We saw 3 variations of the musical Shogun when it had its out-of-town tryouts at the Kennedy Center. I might add that all three viewings had quite a bit of change within each. The show opened at the Marquis (do you guys see a pattern here?)but does anybody know if any songs were ever recorded from that production?
Two shows again from the 1990s that I'm curious about are A Change in the Heir, that was in the horrible old Edison Theater, and the show Anna Karenina, that pretty much nailed the coffin to Circle in the Square. We are big fans of Greg Edelman and am wondering if a cast recording was ever done for Anna.
Hope to hear from all you astute Broadway musical fans.
There are a few recording of different Anna musicals out there.
Busker Alley has a recording of the score on CD. Saw Shogun and nothing of it do I remember. Would love to hear Paper Moon.

There is (was?) a studio recording of Busker Alley with Jim Dale as a benefit for the York Theatre. I doubt it lasted very long on the radar screen, but it was done. I have a copy -- do you want it?
Thanks I have it
There's a great recording of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer with most of the original Broadway leads that I love. It was never released commercially but MTI sends it out with their rental materials. I adore "To Hear You Say My Name." If The Producers hadn't also opened that season it might have stayed around a bit longer.
There is a recording of Anna Karenina - instead of Ann Crumb, it's Melissa Errico (who played the role of Kitty in the original) in the title role; Edelman reprises his role for the recording as well. Brian D'Arcy James, Kerry Butler, Marc Kudisch round out the cast.
A Change in the Heir was never recorded. There is an "unofficial" copy floating around if you can find it.
Busker Alley was recorded and is still available from Jay Records.
Peter Karrie recorded 2 of Shogun's songs on his solo cd Theatrically Yours (the songs were One Candle and Born to be Together).
No OBC of Shogun was ever recorded, unfortunately. Saw the show with Philip Casnoff after it opened at the Marquis and thoroughly enjoyed it. Much better than Karrie, IMO.
There's both an "unofficial" audio and video of the show floating around.

Tazber, I checked Amazon for The Peter Karrie album and the song list does not include Born to be Together. Is there perhaps a different version?? Your help would be greatly appreciated as that song is the most memorable to me from that sort-lived show. Thanks for your help!
