Most Addictive Broadway Song!

What song from a Broadway show has gotten "stuck in your mind", to where you just can't stop singing or thinking it?
I think we have all had this musical experience. For some it's a great song from our favorite musical. While for others, it might be a song you don't even like, from a show you didn't even care for, but you just can't stop singing it in your head.
What song from what musical has had you under its spell?

When Pimpernel came out in 1997, and I got the little cd in my NY Times, I adored Into The Fire. Truthfully, it stayed in my head for days after seeing the show.
But the ultimate song experience for me was from Full Monty...btw Big Black Man and Let it Go...its a tough choice...both will pop into my head for different reasons throughout the day.

lol. I too find you can't stop the beat to be slightly addictive. GOD I love that cast recording.
also any song sung by Gavin Creel becomes very addictive -- what a voice!!!!!

Posted: 6/2/03 at 8:43pmThe title tune from TWHM. My infatuation with it dates back to January 16, 1964. Never a day goes by that I don't play one of the recordings I have of that score--even the French, German, Israeli and Italian cast recordings.

This week's "GET OUT OF MY HEAD" showtune:
"My Strongest Suit" from AIDA

#9"Put On Your Sunday Clothes" from Hello Dolly!
Posted: 6/2/03 at 9:59pmFrom the musical that got me hooked on Broadway, Hello Dolly, the song "Put On Your Sunday Clothes". Many a time I have found singing or humming this tune when I'm working, driving, flying, or doing most anything. It always puts me in a good mood and is a reminder of why I love Broadway!

Posted: 6/2/03 at 10:05pm"My Favorite Things" is one of those...we're playing it in band, and after band it stays in my head for hours afterward. "Confrontation" from Les Mis is too addictive...if so much as one lyric from that song gets into my head, the entire song will run through my head for hours...sometimes days...on end.
~Close your eyes, start a journey through a strange new world, leave all thoughts of the world you knew before...close your eyes and let music set you free! Only then can you belong to me...

Posted: 6/3/03 at 12:02amUsually it's anything from whatever C.D. I'm listening to at the moment, so right now I've got "A New Argentina," "I'd Be Surprisingly Good For You," "Requiem Evita/Oh What a Circus," and "Another Suitcase In Another Hall" from Evita, because that is what is currently occupying my C.D. player.

Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd--
The lyrics to this song are rather odd--
They swim through your head and they tap through your feet--
But you'll never forget them--
The notes that you heard down on Fleet-----------------Street!

After I watched the RNT production of Oklahoma on video last year, the title song stuck in my mind for days. When I watched it again a few weeks later, Surrey With The Fringe on Top stayed with me for awhile.
These days, various songs from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang have stuck with me -- Teamwork (a new song for the stage show), the title song, Hushabye Mountain... depends on my mood at the time. :)
Sorry, it's not Broadway, but it is theatre!

Well, there have been a lot in my case, but the absolute winner is probably "Nobody's Side" from Chess. Then again, I'm so familiar with the score to that show it's kinda disconcerting.
A lot of Jason Robert Brown stuff has done that, particularly in "The Last Five Years." Love that show.

Oh yes, whatever CD I'm listening to, whatever show I'm doing, the songs get STUCK in the head--and usually at the weirdest times. (#2 Weirdest would be during sex--#1 would be during sex occuring during the run of a children's musical--UGH!)
But the all time song that pops into my head regardless of what albums or shows is "Memory". WHY? I HAVE NO CLUE!!!!
lol

It really depends on the cd(s) that I am currently listening to or most recently listened to. Right now the songs stuck in my head are;
Barcelona and Sorry, Grateful from Company
All That Jazz - Chicago
A Littel Priest - Sweeny Todd
The most annoying songs to be stuck in my head recently (and for two months straight) are Her Is and Seven and a Half Cents due to my recently playing Prez in a production of Pajama Game. I had to sing those til I sick to death of them and hope never to haer them again.
