JCS gets picket lines at random stops all over the country all the time and the OBC was picketed heavily.

When we did Rocky Horror last year some religious dolts put 'inspirational' flyers on all our cars. As The Narrator, I took it upon myself to have a lot of fun at their expense the next night, much to the dismay of our lame-o Board of Directors.

I am intrigued. What is 'The goat' about exactly?

Basically, a man cheats on his wife with a goat.

The Goat is about an uper-class renown Manhattan architect who announces to his family that he has fallen in love and "relations" with an actual goat and how they deal with the news.

The Goat has bestiality themes, right ? Other than that, I don't know much about it.

Different shows will be controversial to different people. Anything involving themes people can be easily offended by because of their religious/political/personal beliefs, could be considered controversial. It's really an individual thing. JMO.

"THE GOAT" - what a wonderful evening in the theatre. Saw it with both casts.

I saw it with Mercedes Ruehl and Bill Pullman. "The Goat, or Who is Sylvia" won the Tony for best play.

How about "The Cradle Will Rock" by Blitzstein - it sure wasn't met with open arms when it debuted.

Pullman was AWESOME in THE GOAT. I believed him, no matter how bizarre the story was, I went with him. He should have gotten a Tony Nom, but the 89 year old Tony People were freaked out by the subject material. He got ripped off

Um, doesn't the fact that the same 'eighty nine year-old' voters awarded 'The Goat' Best Play sort of contradict the notion that Pullman wasn't nominated because of the subject matter? I mean, they awarded the actual MATERIAL with the highest honor they have.

Naw, the 89 year olds are senile, they were confused & got mixed up with their own votes

didn't 'The Goat' also win the Pulitzer? I love that show! I just saw it recently, and I would have to agree it's pretty controversial.

Also controversial: 'West Side Story' in it's orginal time, although it's tame now.

'The Full Monty', 'Hair', ....y'know the works.

LMAO

I have no other explanation. I didnt say Pullman should have won, but the fact he did not even get a nomination can only be explained by the above.

lmao

I saw The Goat in Chicago and it is the funniest play I have ever seen. I hope to see it again someday. I only wish I could've seen Sally Field. She must have been so perfect for the part. Diane Keaton would be good as well.

Many Craig Lucas plays can be somewhat controversial.

Reckless, Blue Window, and Prelude to a Kiss where all plays that dealt with somewhat crazy ideas.

Also I remember How I Learned to Drive dealt with incest. (right?)

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!
