Posted: 4/2/06 at 8:15pmI was just wondering if there were any musicals people have seen that they felt were underated and should still be playing today. I have a few.. Seussical, I thought the music was great, Lennon, it just needed some tweaking but the music was amazing, of course john lennon was brilliant, but they gave it a musical theater feel. Those are just a couple off the top of my head..

"Lennon, it just needed some tweaking but the music was amazing"
That's how I feel about Lestat.
Martin Guerre comes to mind.

Flower Drum Song, the Broadway Revival.

Posted: 4/2/06 at 8:25pmI saw Martin Guerre in Detroit before it fizzled and it was amazing! Erin Dilly broke my heart!

Posted: 4/2/06 at 9:04pmTaboo. It truly would have benefited soo much from an out-of-town tryout (as Raul has said.) I still believe it was robbed of a Tony for Best Score.

Posted: 4/2/06 at 9:16pmNot sure how The Wiz, Kiss Me, Kate or La Cage are underrated when they were all Best Musical Tony winners which were long-running hits and have been produced thousands of times around the country since their Broadway runs.

Posted: 4/3/06 at 2:18amSaturday Night Fever! It was a hit, twice, in London but they screwed it up on Broadway by picking a leading man who could not sing or dance very well. By the time he was replaced, it was too late.

Margo-
I knew someone was going to say that. It just seems to me that some people, especially those my age, don't look on those musicals very fondly.

Jane Eyre Got Robbed of best score... I'm sorry all you Producer fans, I like the Producers too, but Best Score? Even Full Monty had a better score that year. So, that's two shows that had better scores.
KING STEVOS
