Motown the Musical Set Design Question(s)

Posted: 6/8/13 at 4:32pmBased on the few photos and video clips posted for Motown, it looks like a pretty intricate show. What is the set like? It looks pretty similar to Women On The Verge in that there are ton of set pieces and the set zips very quickly from one scene to another with one huge piece after another coming on and off stage. Is this about right?

I was extremely underwhelmed with this show. I thought the sets were High School musical quality. I was bored about 10 minutes in to the show. I had more fun watching the sound guy push buttons. The set really did not look that elaborate or impressive to me.

#5Motown the Musical Set Design Question(s)
Posted: 6/8/13 at 6:48pmThe Motown sets were quite basic and rather cheap looking. They moved in and out as fast as the songs did and for me, created a somewhat dizzying effect. Yes, the rapid fire movement attempted to create the same frantic, fast paced atmosphere as Women On The Verge but I think Motown was less successful in doing it. It was just--like the show itself--excessive.
