Legally Blonde: The Musical is in the works!

I think if done right it could be hilarious along the Hairspray vein.

Kristen Cheno for Elle Woods, anyone? Or Laura Bell Bundy?

i don't know what the big deal is really. books, plays, musicals....each have inspired each other and have been adapted or been inspired by one another for years and years.

the creative process is a great thing. adaptation isn't a crime when it's done right, whether it's turning a movie into a musical, a book into a play, etc., etc.

re: Movies turned in to Musical Theatre

The only movies I'd like to see onstage are "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut." I know, I know.

I agree, Marquise. I think what grates about projects like the Spider-Man musical is the obvious opportunism they display. Rather than being inspired by the material, the creators of these musicals are being inspired by money. And that hasn't been known to lead to the best of musicals.

Harry Potter on stage? NEVER! I am watching it now (it's ALWAYS on cable) lets leave it as a movie, but I kinda liked the idea of A Leage Of Our Own, i guess I just love that movie!
It started with a sipmle idea, collecting one paper clip for every life lost, the feelings that connect us...are greater than those that divide us!

re: Movies turned in to Musical Theatre

Hi. Sorry, I'm kind of new here. Been lurking anonomously for a bit, but I've decided to speak up, and this is my first post.

I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want one art form or another to cross paths. I agree with Marquise that movies and plays and books all inspire each other. The truth of the matter, I feel, is that a good story should be told in as many mediums as possible. Of course there will be drastic changes in any adaptaion from one form to another, but that doesn't mean the story shouldn't be told.

"It does what a musical's supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue."

Better Ariel than Potter. And I'm a huge fan of the books. But it sounds like blasphemy to me...

Ways to annoy people: Arrive at a meeting late, say you're sorry, but you didn't have time for lunch, and you're going to be nibbling during the meeting. Then eat raw potatoes. Ask people what gender they are,or Disagree strongly with everything anybody says:)
