My mom bought tickets for us to see Movin' Out next week and I've never seen it before so I just wanted to know what everybody thought of it.

It's such a fun show! It's not your conventional Broadway show because only one man sings, and the rest of the cast dances...so...uh...enjoy yourself! The dancing is AMAZING!

Does anyone know the reason the show is closing?

i loved the show! i saw it when it came to my city in may. the dancing is amazing, the music is awesome (band and singer), and its really different in that there is no speaking, but it is really cool. definately an awesome show, and i really wish it wasnt closing!

Maybe it's not doing as well as they want to?

And isn't Tarzan supposedly going into that theater?

Eh, who knows.

i have another question--if you wanted to meet the cast afterwards do they take a long time to come out?

MOVIN OUT is great! I originally wanted to see it because I'm a big Bill Joel fan, but the dancing is unbelievable. The things those people can do with their bodies...outstanding! The band is also fantastic. I've seen it with the original, Cavanaugh, and also with the replacement. Although I liked Cavanaugh better, the replacement is also good, too. The band really has the BJ sound.

In fact, I'm hoping to get back to see it soon before it closes. It's my 5th or 6th time, I think.

Btw, since there is almost no dialogue, the Playbill gives you a synopsis of the storyline, so you can follow along and enjoy the dancing and emoting of the performers, as well as the singing, and still know what is happening.

Each of the times I've seen it, I waited at the stage door. Some of the performers came out (in fact, one of them recognized my companion from the rush seats in the front row); but I have never seen all of them.

Overall, a wonderful theatrical experience. Hope you enjoy it as much as I.

Movin' Out isn't a traditional show but it is fantabulous! You will probably enjoy it. I know that I did.

Kristin Chenoweth could barely control a Great Dane she trotted onto the stage. "Great, they gave me a dog that weighs five times what I do", she quipped. For the record, she weighs 93 pounds, and has a Maltese.

yes Movin' Out is amazing! im so bummed that its closing! the cast usually comes right out, and there all so nice, especially John Selya..oh i love him. and elizabeth is so sweet. most of the principals will sign autographs and take pictures & stuff...i dont know about keith cause ive never met him, and every time ive gone, ashley tuttle seems to avoid the crowd...but you never know. anyway, you'll def. enjoy the show. its so good!

yea, its closing b/c disney wants the Richard Rodgers for Tarzan...which is such a shame, cause its not like the attendance was very low or anything, considering Movin' Out is entering its 3rd year....and i heard its not moving to another theater cause no one wants to deal with Twyla and her craziness......but w/e =]

I'm surprised Disney can just kick out Movin Out! To me, that's unheard of!

What's so special about the Richard Rogers theater that Disney would go through all the trouble to close a show so that Tarzan could play there?

i know! and the Richard Rodgers is a relatively small theater...if disney wants Tarzan to be a big show like Lion King and B&B, wouldnt they want a bigger theater?

Actually, this theatre is pretty crummy looking. I love MOVIN OUT and have seen it multiple times, but one of those times I didn't get back to my seat after intermission before the start of the second act. As I waited for the quick dark in between songs to come, so I could sneak back to my seat, I stood outside the curtained area in the hallway. The theatre is pretty shabby and not so clean looking from that view.

I can't imagine what the attraction would be for the RR Theatre, except I'm sure there are many other factors to consider when lining up a theatre for a show. Besides, to be a hit, TARZAN will have less seats at each performance to fill; and if necessary, Disney can always move to a larger theatre.

I was sad to hear that Movin Out is closing, I assume the National Tour is still going strong.
This may be a dumb question but will this change the cast of the tour ?
I love that show.
